went out on a sunday afternoon for our family xmas get together, had pre-booked, we had 3 course sunday lunch which was a good price of £9.95, orders for drinks were taken then gave us time to browse the menu. Service was a little bit slow to begin with, but picked up, food was very tasty and a good choice for all three courses, puddings could have been a little better, seemed shop bought rather than home made, nice atmosphere, with a log fire and plenty of space.

Called in here for breakfast on Sunday morning as it was near the station and we had a train to catch. Very glad we did. Although it's not cheap (£9.20) it was plentiful, tasty and the service was efficient and friendly.

It's a hotel but is open for breakfast to non-residents too. We all ordered a full English (sausage, bacon, beans, tomato, mushroom, fried bread and egg (either fried, scrambled or poached). As always with a fried breakfast, it's the quality of the ingredients that makes the difference and these were excellent.

Also included in the price was cereal, yoghurt, juice, dried fruit and as much toast, tea and coffee as we wanted.

A great way to start the day.

Found this good restaurant and bar in Barrow. We all had the fish, chips and peas and the chips were really good - you can't beat home made chips and they were superb. The fish was fine although the beer batter was a little heavy. The locals in the bar were very friendly and the service was excellent. I would return if in the area again.

The first time I visited this place, it was for lunch on a weekday. I had the black pudding with poached egg and a honey mustard sauce - this was absolutely divine! Unfortunately, service was only average, especially since the restaurant was less than half-full.

I went back the second time for dinner with friends. The food unfortunately was only average; I had the black pudding with fried brie cheese and a mayonnaise sauce for the starter and it wasn't as good as the previous time I was there. I had the steak for the main course and even though I ordered it to be medium rare, it was only medium. It wasn't really seasoned very well, thankfully the blue cheese sauce made up for it!

Service during dinner was quite good, with a very attentive waitress. The place was almost full for a Thursday night, so that was a pleasant surprise!

The only negative would be that this place is quite pricey, especially for the quality of the food. Otherwise, an overall pleasant experience, especially in a small town like Barrow (where there isn't that much choice!)
