“Great spot”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Amazing, the ferry journey was very pleasant and the island was beautiful. The castle is very historical, and there are only a few people on the island. The local scenery is breathtaking. Not many places offer a similar experience,, if any!

“Great experience for children.”

An open motor boat sailing across to the island, barren landscape with ruins to explore, amazing views for miles, a shore to explore and a pub! Great!!

“A great day out”
Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

It starts with a short boat ride with John full of information and good humoured
Then on to Piel Island and its great pub good selection of drinks and very good menu try a bucket of mussels while you decide on further courses great service lovely people and good value
Have a break and stroll round the island which has been on several TV programmes
It's just a different day out and I believe you can take your tent for an overnight as well

“The Dog Show & 18th Birthday Celebrations!”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Having been to Piel Island on several occasions over the past years, both camping & staying in one of their beautiful rooms, the recent visit was very enjoyable. Providing the weather is okay, camping is fine for maybe 2 nights at the most. I would much more prefer to stay in their rooms.

The Dog Show was very well organised by Sheila, the Queen of the Island, and her assistants and was very amusing too!

Our friends' son's 18th birthday was good too. The Ship Inn provided about 20 of us with a potatoe pie supper, which was delicious, and allowed us to bring cake.

The full English breakfast in the hotel was excellent & yummy!

The island is a dream & a very relaxing place with superb scenery, views & wildlife, along with the Ship Inn's sheep, pigs, pony & chickens.

Definitely worth a visit only if you just stay for the day!

“Fantastic Place!”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

If you like a change of scenery and stunning views, this is well worth the trip. Nice food, great people, enjoyable ferry journey (10-15 mins).
I can imagine it gets quite busy Easter/Summer. On a Tuesday in September, it was a very, very pleasant day out.
(Advisable to check everything up and running beforehand)
