lets start by saying what a wonderful atmosphere welcomes you to this bar/restaurant. My family and I had been recomened to the albert by a friend who ate there on valentines day, she said it was totally superior to any where else in the area, the food delectable, the service superb, big selection of ales, good music helped to create a warm atmospere. We arrived to eat at about 8pm, all was going well, all we had heard was correct, At about 830 it all went wrong, the owner arrived at the bar obviously intoxicated, and started shouting and embarresing staff. Not only did we feel uncomfortable but it ruined our eveining.
everything else was great , well done to the albert staff, booo to the owner.
i shall return due to the great food, service and atmosphere, but i will avoid the owner like the plague, you will know him when you see him, he will be the one falling over at the end of the bar.

my partner and i went to bowness for valentines weekend. we were enticed into this country pub by the amazing menu and value for (money 3 courses for £15.95) we went in to book for the evening and no one seemed to know where the reservation book was, so after 5 mins or so we were told they had only 4 tables left, so we booked for 8.30pm.. that night we arrived and was stood at the bar waiting and was ignored by the manager twice!!! who had booked us in only some 4 hrs earlier, and 3 other members off staff who were stood chatting at the other end of the bar. i could go on for ages about how rude the staff were but to sum it up i would definitely not go back no matter how good the food were. we were over charged which we had to alert them to this error, and didn't get the extra garlic bread we`d asked for either.

we were recommended the albert for christmas dinner, by friends who spent christmas at the albert last year, we did not stay at the albert, but ate there several times over 1 week stay in bowness, including christmas day.... the food is by far the best of any eatery in the area, staff are friendly and will go out of there way to make sure you have an enjoyable meal. Christmas dinner was faultless, the food and staff we're truly brilliant, we are deffinatley returning for christmas 2010 and hope to stay there this time too.. if not before, thanks guys
