Lovely little find in bowness. We were on holiday and it was so nice we went there 2 nights in a row. The atmosphere is great and the staff treat you like you are guests in their home. Food is rustic Italian, our small children were made very welcome and prices reasonable. We can't wait to go back there on our next visit. Thank you for such lovely evenings.

Villa Positano is a very popular restaurant located 2 minutes from the lake. Booking in advance is essential as it is that popular. We tried to book a table for Saturday evening but they were fully booked so we booked for Sunday. Could not find fault with the food or the service, and despite being full, the owners brother still found time to talk to us about the area and was interested to hear about our comments about local restaurants in Manchester (many of which he knew about).
As with most Italian restaurants, prices seem to be a little higher but it is well worth it.
We will definitely be dining here again

If you want a good quality Italian meal in a relaxing atmosphere this is the place to go to. The pasta is nearly always very good, especially the seafood pasta, which the owner Angelo will tweak to your liking. Ask him what fish is on, and it maybe Dover Sole or Wild Sea Bass, cooked with garlic butter (what could be nicer?) will be suggested. The fillet steak has got to be one of the best in the area.
The ambiance is lovely, although over bank holidays service is under pressure, personally I wouldnt go to any restaurant over the bank holiday.

For me the highlight is the wine. In all the years I have been going there I have never looked at the wine list. Ask Angelo what he suggests. If on trying it the wine it is not to your taste he will take it back and offer another one. Thats service! For between £23 and £27 you will get a wine that is ready for drinking, not one that is ready for drinking in three years time!

I am sure that some people have not had a good experience from time to time. It happens, but 9 times out of 10 Villa Positano is super value for money.
It will be a sad day for Bowness when Angelo and Claire finally decide to retire. I for one wont know where to go to.....maybe Zefferellis in Ambleside, which is good also.

Villa Positano is a lovely little restaurant nestling at the end of a short passageway.
Even though they were extremely busy over the Easter Bank Holiday period, we still managed to get a table and we were not disapointed in the least!
The food was excellent and very reasonably priced, but it was the service and atmosphere that made this such a memorable place for us, nothing was too much trouble and the owners were wonderful - they made you feel as though they had known you for years!
If I have any critisism at all, it would be that the wine was a bit overpriced - but hey, you can't have everything!
A bit of a tip as well, if you fancy eating here and haven't booked, when you get there, if there is a note on the door saying fully booked - still pop inside and ask . . . it worked for us!
