We have just stayed at Holmlea Guest house for 3 days. The location of this property is ideal to see and access all of Windemere with everything you need in walking distance. We parked in the private parking and walked everywhere. Having looked at the photos and the guest reviews we were really hopeful about this property, however some aspects did not live up to expectations. The photos make the rooms look large, bright and airy, the reality is that the room we stayed in was somewhat small. The bathroom was tiny. My partner had real issues with the shower, he was too tall at 6 feet and could not stand underneath the fixed showerhead, nor really enjoy the shower as it was very small. The bed also seemed small. Everything was spotlessly clean both in the room and in the main house, we stayed in the property to the back of the main building and walked to breakfast in the dining room - this was OK until it started raining! The hot water was temperamental. Having been out from the morning we came in around 2:30-3:00pm to have a shower before going out for an evening meal. At this time of the day on both days we had to wait for hot water until around 4:15!! Not the best of things when you are cold from the rain.
The breakfast was lovely with plenty on offer. The tea and coffee is replenished everyday which is good. Overall we have enjoyed our stay but feel some things could be improved/modernised.

Room Tip: The room to the back of the main building is perfect if you want to avoid traffic noise.

Myself and my wife have just spent two days at the HOLMLEA. we have stayed in bowness many times before, but never at the HOLMLEA, but i will not be going elswhere after staying there,Gill was very welcoming, she showed my wife the accommodation on offer, and we decided to stay, what a superb choice, the room was top quality, the breakfast was superb,Gill our hostess was very attentive to our requirements,a first class guest house.

Room Tip: we were at the front of the house, which looks out onto the roadway, this did not cause us any problem with the very light traffic using the road, also the guest house is approx five minutes from the town centre,a superb situation.

What wonderful comments, thank you so much. Feedback from guests has been really positive regarding our recent refurbishments and we're so glad you were comfortable. You were both a pleasure to meet and hope to see you again soon.

We had never been to the Lake District before and we were not disappointed.
Unfortunately the weather was not very kind to us when we were there.
We stayed for the weekend at the Holmlea Guest House and we were not disappointed.
Very friendly staff, bedroom and dining room spotlessly clean and the breakfast was superb - very healthy cooking.
The Holmlea is in a great location for shops, bars and boat trips
Would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: If you want a bit more privacy ask for one of the rooms at the back of the house

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are indeed only a short distance from the Lake and all the attractions/amenities. Bowness has so much to offer and we are proud to be located in such an excellent quiet position for exploring the wonderful area. We're glad you liked the room at the back of the house. Its a lovely peaceful room undisturbed by other guests. Please consider us again on your next visit to Bowness on Windermere.

We booked this as a last minute break, and stayed two nights at holmlea. The hosts are pleasant and accommodating, and the house is situated in a great location, with everything in walking distance. Breakfast was lovely, with extra's offered to us if we wished. Bedroom was lovely and clean, and replenished daily, our only (very small) critisism would be that our bed appeared to be two single beds pushed together, when we had requested a double. Woke up a couple of times with my elbow down the crack in the bed! But this really is a small critisism, as the bed was still comfortable! Bathroom was lovely, plenty of room and the shower was powerful which is always a bonus. All in all a lovely stay and would definitely stay again. :-D

Thank you for your comments Krista. The room you stayed in was our flexible twin/double where the single beds are securely linked together to make a large double bed. Apologies I should have mentioned this to you on arrival. As you say the beds were very comfortable and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you both again in the future.

Just love it, booked again for this year trying June this time just for the weekend this is our 9th year been coming so we've seen a few changes in the B&B, got to know Gill and John well and nothing is to much trouble, look forward to seeing the changes from 1 year to the next they have really turn the B&B round since we first started to go there, the fact you park the car up and everything is in walking distant is great, breakfast is wonderful really filling, rooms are well decorated with tea/coffee etc, which is replenished every day, beds really comfy which is a bonus plenty of resaurants/pubs near by.

Room Tip: All good but always stay in room 3.
