Description: Linthwaite House Hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere in the sublime Lake District is a very special place indeed. With views that would have thrilled Wordsworth, Linthwaite House Hotel has chosen luxurious, tasteful interiors to please even the most jaded urbanite and the kitchen, under chef Simon Bolsover, is daring and modern too. Fresh, local ingredients conspire in a signature dish like 60 Degree Herdwick Lamb with braised neck kataifi, cep and kidney risotto. Choose from light lunch menu on the terrace, daily changing table d’hote menu or simpler a la carte in the elegant dining room, with its vast mirror collection, in the evenings, vegetarian menu, or trad Sunday lunch, all accompanied by a blistering global wine list.

“Quintessential English afternoon tea”

Delightful setting for afternoon tea on a Spring day
Party of four, having visited Linthwaite house several times previously. This time enjoying their afternoon tea.
Lovely fresh sandwiches and delightful scones and lovely varied cakes.
Maybe a stronger balance in savouries would achieve perfection.
The teas were delicious and as always the service impeccable !

“Fantastic stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

Just spent our first one night stay at the hotel and while not cheap it is worth every penny.

Location, food, staff and hotel are all fantastic.

Great stay and a big thank you to all staff

“Tastefully Modern & On Trend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

Certainly the chef at Linthwaite is on trend with the latest techniques and flavour combinations, Champagne foam, confit duck, etc etc. The fixed price four course menus is excellent value at just £52 with a lovely restaurant area tastefully decorated in a classically modern style. Prior to dinner drinks are served in their sitting rooms in front of open fires. Well worth the 15 minute walk from Bowness or 5 minute taxi ride. Book ahead though as the hotel guests will have first priority over tables.

“Consistently First Class”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014

Visited with family to take advantage of 2 for 1 deal, £56 for 2. Eaten here several times for lunch and once previously for dinner. It is silver service, fine dining. Described as a 4 course meal but really 3 courses with a tasty canape whilst having drinks in the lounge. Although a Monday the Restaurant was nearly full in first 2 rooms therefore making a good atmosphere. Staff as ever are attentive and professional, Martin deserves top marks. Chose an Argentine Malbec but out of stock and was offered a Californian Malbec, not at all to my taste being thin and rather sharp and was changed without hesitation. We each chose different dishes, lamb, duck, and fish; all were perfectly prepared, well seasoned and with delicious matching accompaniments/sauces, and the right size. Deserts equally excellent and recommend the souffle. Only slight downside was some shouting at a trainee waiter by, I assume, the Manager, for whatever reason did not sound professional. We had 2 bottles of wine, before dinner drinks and bill was £50pp, for this standard of cooking and ambiance I believe good value.
