“Felt at home”

The owners were very friendly - they even picked us up from the train station. We celebrated our wedding anniversary in style - with lovely flowers in the room and a grand chocolate cake!

Although the room we stayed in was a bit small (including the bathroom), I would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Lakeside view is always the best

I recently stayed ay Stockghyll and would definitely stay again. The location is great. 5 minute walk to Bowness. Lovely room and views. Advise torch if walking to Bowness at night as very dark. Shower but small but everything great. Owners lovely and very nice breakfast.

What a little gem this is, only three rooms and a friendly but not intrusive owner.
Our room was spacious and had everything one could need, including complimentary toiletries in the bathroom and a tea tray including coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. The owner’s attention to detail is a credit to them, even down to providing loan umbrellas in the porch and torches on the hall table to assist visitors walking back to the cottage after dark if one does visit the town. The walk to Bowness took us 6 minutes from Stockghyll cottage to the mini roundabout. The breakfast was excellent with a choice of three fruit juices, cereals, yogurt etc as well as a very well presented full English breakfast made with top quality ingredients and freshly cooked to order to perfection.
Overall - Highly recommended.

Stayed there for 2 nights and were pleased with the experience. Rooms are a bit on the small side and our wash hand basin was in the room next to the bed rather than in the bathroom. We didn't mind but others might. The place was clean and there is a lovely stream at the back of the house. Breakfast was good with a good choice of cereals as well as a cooked breakfast. Hosts are nice and helpful.

All the reviews are right, the hosts, breakfast and setting are nice. The room we had was small, so if you go there, take only one bag for a couple, otherwise the room could be unworkable. The road is quite narrow on the way in, the hosts were excellent with arranging parking.

We were after a stop over in the Lakes to breakup a homeward bound trip from Loch Ness. Not being particulary organised we left it until serious last minute to book this B&B and as coming from a lovely woddland lodge we didn't want the usually corporate 'Travelodge'. Stock Gyhll was perfect!! beautifully cottagey and comfortable, perfect for a road weary couple in need of a warm bed, shower and a local pub to eat in.
Heather and Adrian were so helpful and even their welcome pack says to treat there home as any dear visiting friend would.
Every little touch is thought of, from wind up tourches for guests on the hall table, brolly's in the porch and even a spot to hang damp clothes and boots for those out and about walking during the day. Even the jam at breakfast has a little tale to tell about where it comes from. Sensible breakfast hours are a delight too, no need to get up at silly o'clock to get down for breakfast like some places.

Didn't have much chance to enjoy the waterfall due to the bad weather and the whistle stop visit but would certainly visit again!!

We have just returned from another lovely stay at Stockghyll Cottage, our third with the current owners Heather and Adrian. The cottage is only a ten minute walk from Bowness on Windermere, so great for proximity for places to eat, shops and local transport connections, to other parts of the Lakes. With only three letting rooms the cottage is friendly and intimate and is comfortable and kept scrupulously clean. Heather and Adrian looked after us beautifully giving us lifts to and from Windermere station on arrvial and departure and supplying excellent breakfasts. As a family we more or less took over the place for the week and we honestly couldn't fault our stay. We hope to go back soon.

Room Tip: Just three double letting rooms, two with lake views and one with overlooking the waterfall at the b...
