“Cruising for a day”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

The big "steamers" are a wonderful way to spend a whole day cruising the length of Windermre from Bowness up to Ambleside, and down to Lakeside - and they have a really good value ticket to hop on and off for the whole day. A great experience.

“Good 45 min Cruise”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

Bowness is easy to get to from Kendal. Nice little Village. We had a nice breakfast in a small place on the Main Street and then went for the Cruise. Then a bit of browsing round the shops. Parking was good and cheap too. Enjoyed the day!

“Try the Walkers' Ticket for a real Lakes experience”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

We have been visiting the Lake District several times a year for many years. A trip to the Lakes is incomplete without a boat trip on Lake Windermere. A long while ago we purchased the Walks Round the Lake book from the ticket office. It is the best walking book we have ever bought and use it every visit. The Walkers' Ticket is really excellent value for a day out. Cruise from Bowness to Ambleside, then by boat from Ambleside to Wray Castle. A not-too-strenuous walk along the lakeside to the ferry back to Bowness. For those who want a longer walk this can be combined with another walk from the Walks Round the Lake book - Turn left at the signpost to Hawkshead and walk up to Claife Heights for one of the best views in the world. Enjoy!

Many thanks for your lovely review & for recommending our Walks book. I use it too for planning walking days out! The book is available to buy from any of our ticket offices & onboard most of our vessels. There is also a selection of walks on our website,in fun days out, under cruise & walks. Hope to see you again soon!

“Boat, Train & Aquarium”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

We liked the Boat & Aquarium, but the Train trip was not good at all. The train requires a lot of restoration, inside and out, and the ride down a single track and back again is not interesting at all.

Many thanks for your review. I'm pleased you enjoyed the boat & aquarium but disappointed you didnt enjoy the train. I contacted them & pointed out your comments & they have responded with the following “Sorry the journey was not to your liking, it is what we inherited from British Rail and we think our Lakeland views are a delight. The coaching stock is used daily, is heritage stock more than 50 years old that is kept clean, tidy and in good repair, although not perhaps AS gleaming as when out shopped”
We, at WLC, hope that our visitors enjoy the nostalgia & tranquility that the Lake District offers & hope maybe you will visit us again.

“Beautiful scenery”
Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

A very beautiful place indeed. Took the morning yellow cruise which covers around half the lake and takes around 20 mins. Then followed by the steam railway train ride. Both are good experience and worth the time and money spent. Will recommend this indeed.

Many thanks for your lovely review & for recommending us. If I can just clarify a point for future visitors. The yellow cruise takes 40 mins each way between Bowness & Lakeside & the train journey between Lakeside & Haverthwaite is 20 mins each way. It is a beautiful trip & the first couple of sailings are usually the quietest of the day so its worth aiming for this if possible. thanks again for the review & recommendation
