I purchased a voucher from Travelzoo for the afternoon tea which did not make any difference on how we were treated. Stunning views whilst we ate a delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones whilst being attended to by staff who were around but discreetly in the background. A very big thank you to everyone concerned. The only criticism to be had about the food was the cucumber sandwiches which my partner hated and had expected a meat choice.

Thank you for taking the time to comment here on Trip Advisor.

We were pleased to hear that you enjoyed your overall experience with us aside from the content of a couple of sandwiches. If you had of let us know, we would have been only too pleased to replace them with an alternative.

Just returned from a relaxing overnight stay at Storrs Hall .Our room was very spacious and we felt privileged in its decadent room 5 beautiful views of the lake. The staff we're friendly and informative. I would say if you are taking your dog along be aware you cannot take them in any of the eating areas .We actually used room service so we didnt leave our dog on his own. we were happy with that and so was our dog. Only bad thing I felt was at checkin/out the reception area was not at all discreet and we were held up by a quibbling man questioning every item on his bill !!!!..that said I cannot wait to return Soon to Storrs Hall :).

Thank you for sharing your experience here on Trip Advisor.

We are delighted to hear that you, and your dog, enjoyed your stay. As you note, we do welcome dogs although in fairness to others we do have to restrict areas in which they are allowed.

We hope that you will join us again soon!

We stayed here for one night on a stopover on the drive from the South of England to the ferry at Cairnryan. We were looking for a comfortable 4 star hotel and this one did not disappoint. I was a bit wary because of some of the complaints I had read in other reviews. However, we found nothing to complain about and now think that many of the complaints I read were more about persoanl attitudes than the hotel or it's staff.

The attitude, helpfulness and efficiency of the staff was excellent from the minute we came through the door - with no less than 3 people offering to carry our bags - when we arrived at reception, then when we were on the way up the stairs and then again walking along the corridor to our room. The room was lovely and very comfortable. People had complained about carpet in the bathroom but it doesn't surprise me that in a hotel in a building of this age, presumably with old wooden floors, it would be difficult to tile floors on the upper levels. The carpet was clean so there was no problem.

The quality of the food was also excellent, although the portions were small, but that did not surprise us given the menu. They did not have the wine I wanted for dinner in stock, although it was on the wine list, but, to help me select an alternative, the young bar manager offered me a tasting of two other wines he thought would be similar but that I was not familiar with. Some people might have felt that not having all the wine on the wine list in stock was cause for complaint but I thought the bar manager handled the situation very well so it would be churlish to find fault.

We found the hotel to be reasonably priced for what it offered and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. We would have no hesitation staying here again and would recommend it. If you enjoy old style grandeur in historic buildings with some character, this hotel should not disappoint. It may not suit those who prefer very modern hotels but that's not the hotel's fault. It's simply a question of personal taste.

My husband and I had afternoon tea after buying a voucher on travelzoo. We arrived and reception was extremely polite and helpful taking our coats and giving us a choice of tables all of which had a stunning lake view. We had champagne , tea and a delicious selection of sandwiches, savouries and cakes. Service was excellent. We had a walk around the gardens to the jetty, storrs temple whilst there was a glimpse of the sun in the sky. We will definitely return and stay next time.

An absolute delight!!!

We stayed here for one night on 28th March and only wished we had booked longer. We arrived for a champagne afternoon tea which was served overlooking the lake. We had room 21 which also overlooked the lake and the full length window allowed us to sit and enjoy the view, binoculars were provided but unfortunately it was a drizzly day and there wasn't much happening on the lake. We booked for dinner and sat in the cosy lounge for a couple of drinks before we went into the restaurant. The meal was well presented, delicious and well seasoned that it must have been a first for me not to ask for salt .. The staff were very attentive and very pleasant and eager to make your stay enjoyable. Our room was tastefully decorated and the large bed was very comfortable and we had an excellent sleep. Breakfast in our room was lovely too and there was no extra charge for this service. We would definitely like to come back sometime in the future. The only negative was the Wifi was not great.

Room Tip: Room 21 looks over the lake. Good size room and a very comfortable bed.

We stayed overnight for my birthday and had a fantastic time. We had seen the hotel whilst on a boat trip on lake Windermere and said we have to stay there. We went for the ultimate package which included afternoon tea, Dinner and breakfast. We loved the location that we had for all 3 meals overlooking the lake. Afternoon tea was a delight, just enough beautiful goodies to fill us until dinner. If you enjoy fine dinning with excellent service and food this restaurant is a must for dinner, it says 3 courses but we ended up having 7 in all, it's all the other little surprises that make the meal sublime, i.e. the smoke salmon amuse bouche and the pre desert of tarragon and lime panacotta. We had a surprise at the end of the meal by meeting the headchef 'Conor Toomey' who thanked us for our comments and explained some of the courses in more detail which was fascinating to hear, a delightful chef who knows what he wants to deliver and isn't afraid of criticism, a Michelin star won't be far away i'm sure. Breakfast was really nice to.The room we stayed in was beautiful and the view was to die for. All in all 5* service and thankyou to all the staff, as arnie said 'I'll be back'!!

Room Tip: we had room 2 and it has a fantastic view of lake windermere
