The food was good, the ambience was very english and homely. The staff was great, we had our 18 month old daughter with us, who was being a bit cranky, the manager/owner tried her best to make her feel welcome, with toys and offered a high chair. The best part is they give free juice for kids....definitely would recommend...

What a little gem tucked away in a back lane in the town(do keep following the sign until you find it!) Magnificent service from lovely friendly, welcoming staff and owner. Great toasties, cake and tea and food coming out looked great! The owner even gave my wife a(shush!)free piece of cake to take away as she enjoyed the one she'd eaten so much.A dreary day brightened by such a wonderful place and people.Top marks!!

Visited here with the family last week while on a short break in Bowness.

The place is great value for money and the staff and service are excellent, especially Lynda who made us feel really welcome.

I would not hesitate in recommending a visit here, we will be back.

Delicious cakes and great pot of tea. Loved how all the china was a mix match of different sets, what a wonderfully quirly idea! Great service, incredibly friendly. The Scone and home-made Jam was like none other I have ever tasted, pure heaven! Cream tea lunch at a really decent price. Lovely atmosphere and well decorated, would go back!

The tea and cake we had was lovely. The cakes were freshly made and the tea was loose leaf. On the food and drinks alone, I would score this cafe 'Excellent'.

The reason for the 'Very Good' rating is because the tables were crammed in and ours was too close to the counter, which meant we were knocked into by a number of other customers throughout our visit.

It was table service, but wasn't clear when you came in - a sign on the door to say so would be helpful to stop everyone heading to the counter first.

We chose to pay at the counter (as did a number of other customers) because they were too busy serving new customers to come round and collect payment. Another member of staff would have been very helpful.
