“Always excellent food and staff and Stephen is very welcomming.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2012

I always visit St. Martins when I am in Bowness. The Cafe has changed since
Stephen became Proprietier. It was nice before but now it is even better. The
Staff are always pleasant and welcomming. It is a very nice place to visit in
Bowness and you will find it next to the Post Office and the Crockery Shop
behind the Parish Church. I do hope you will find time to visit as I am sure
you will not be disappointed. Thank you Stephen.

Hi Kevin. Thank you for your kind review. I am glad that you enjoy the new tea room since I took over. It has been a great couple of years and have enjoyed making a few changes. Thanks for recommending us to your colleague at work. They came up for a ladies weekend away and popped in a couple of times for afternoon tea and cakes. I think the scones went down well...!!! Once again Kevin thanks for the review and the recommendation. Hope to see you soon the next time you are in Bowness. Stephen.

“Homely Cafe, but a little basic.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2012

Staff greeted us warmly, and served us quickly,
The food was just OK. I had the 'Afternoon Tea' - tuna sandwich came with white bread and a strange garnish of 'undressed' large pieces of lettuce, with sliced tomato - would have looked nicer with a few mixed leaves and a couple of cherry tomatoes, with a simple salad dressing. The fruit scone was good, but the serving of jam was a little on the sparse side.
Homely atmosphere, although it was a really cold day and it wasn't much warmer sat inside either. The look of the place from outside and in is nice - the food is a bit on the bland side.

“************* Best In the Area *************”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2012

This Cafe is quite easy to find, it is behind the Church in a row of shops and it is well worth finding. It is run by the owner who actually does the cooking and baking so there's a plus straight away.We had the afternoon tea which comprises of sandwiches, tea or coffee and cream and jam scones, all of the food was delicious but the scones, they were absolutely fantastic. The waitress was a pleasant girl who gave good attention to what we wanted and the service was good, pleasant room, clean and comfortable but it was the food that did it for us, fantastic. We've tried several of the others in Bowness but this is the one for us now, well recommended.

“What a find!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2011

Just off the beaten track but well worth it!!! What a little gem of a cafe me and my family have found. The cup cakes and scones are the best I have tasted in a long while. Definitely a time to forget the diet. We will be going back next time we are in Bowness.

“Great cakes and great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2011

The proprietor Stephen does all the cooking including the home baked cup cakes and scones, which are truly delicious. Pleasant surrounding and friendly attentive service make this our favourite place to spend time in Bowness - especially when it's raining! Kevin and Susan.
