“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

While we were waiting to continue a Lake cruise we stopped off at Aunty Vals Tea Rooms and it was a real delight. We didn't have long enough for a main meal but we opted for toasted sandwiches - my husband had a plain cheese while I opted for a smoked ham and tomato. The food arrived both hot and delicious, the bread was really tasty and we were only sorry that we hadn't found this place sooner. Its tucked away off the main street in Bowness but what a find! The staff were really lovely and made everyone feel welcome. Well done!!

We called into this quaint tearooms on sat afternoon. The wife ordered the days special (chicken & chorizo ciabatta) and I opted for the soup of the day (spicy tomato) both were fantastic. I would recommend and will definatly call again.

“A superb place to eat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

My partner and I went to Aunty Val's tea rooms for lunch while holidaying in the Lake District. The food was wonderful and the service was superb. My partner had the Lakeland Stew and the meat was unbelievably tender. I had the leek and potato soup which was obviously homemade. It made our day when the weather outside left a lot to be desired.

“what a shame!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

miserable waitress finally appeared from the kitchen after almost 10 minutes of us walking in...there were also people eating in there so it wasn't empty. food was ok, you know kind of better than a bad greasy spoon but a subway would have been more 'traditional' . The tea rooms decor was lovely, old teapots hanging off the beems and wooden crate boxes in the window but the food was no were near as good as the setting. i'd have been better off nippin' tesco express and buying my own!
