It is always nice to welcome guests back and have their feedback, we were sorry that you found the bed uncomfortable as well as the pillows, as we could have changed the pillows for you if you had mentioned this.
We do have a large selection of bottled beers, which we find gives the guest more choice than only being able to accommodate one on draught.
We hope to we will see you on a 5th visit

Stayed on 1st April as part of a TravelZoo promotion deal. A very large comfortable room (a twin proved us with a double and single bed) overlooking the garden. Good facilities in the room. Dinner with 3 course menu and bottle of wine was provided as part of the deal. The meals were excellent and not rushed. A good base to explore the southern Lakeland or the local towns. Made to feel welcome throughout our visit. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't be put off by the appearance of this being a chalet style room - you get a good sized room...

Stayed lastnight 2/4/13. In chalet no.9. On the plus side, the chalet is good value as it can sleep 5 for £95. The meal me and my 9 year old daughter had was top notch. the steak and chips were the best i ever had (£23/£24) but with it tasting so good you do not care. yum yum. and the breakfast was realy nice . very good service and helpful staff. downside. our room d/bed very uncomfortable. had to sleep in single. the ceiling looked like it had been patched up in places. the socket for kettle was in the wrong place, and was hard to plug in. and the wall next to the door had a few dents in the wall.. and could not lock the windows on the main window when pulled close, you could not lock the handle down.. just simple things to put right but things you notice. plus side again rooms very warm pillows were lush and soft.. plenty tea and coffe and other hot drinks in your room.. bathroom had all you needed.. would i come back again.. yes yes yes need more of that fine food and lovely breakfast.. i would give this hotel 8/10 but if it dose them few little jobs in room 9. Then it wolud get 9/10.. Food. 10/10. Oh yes the puddings are to die for...... :-)

Thank you for your review, we are pleased that you had enjoyed both your dinner, and breakfast with us. We will be looking at the points you raised, the windows are lockable but the last guest must have locked the handle on leaving, we do keep a key for this at reception and we would have happily sorted that out for you if you had mentioned it.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the future

We spent 3 nights here for my birthday/mini break for our first time to the Lakes on the 24th March and it was just wonderful! My boyfriend booked the hotel as a surprise so I didn't know what to expect; when we arrived I was surprised to see chalets and felt they could do with a lick of brighter paint. However, we soon forgot about that. We received a very warm welcome and directions to the garden rooms. Our room was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, I think some would feel it needs modernising but I completely disagree, the room had such a traditional English country house feel about it, particularly due to the four poster bed and lovely antique writing desks! The bathroom was also spotless and surprisingly large. The breakfast menu in the morning was quite extensive with lots of fruit, preserves, cereal and yoghurt and I must say the best cooked breakfast I have ever had with service that was beyond excellent, they really made us feel at home, both in the morning and when we wanted a drink from the bar near closing time. The proximity to the town is also fantastic and overall made our stay really special, will definitely come back if we come back to the Lakes!

It was so nice to read your extensive review of the hotel, it does seem to surprise some of our guests that the accommodation is outside, but they enjoy the privacy of the way the rooms are set in the grounds. We do like to make our guests feel at home and it is nice to have feedback that this is the case.
Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel

We have just returned from a three night stay in the winter wonderland of Burn How. We stayed in the Mews which is probably one of the best rooms of any hotel I have been in, we even got a lovely complementary box of chocolates. The breakfast was to die for with every fruit known to man on offer, and the grill superb. The hotel is situated just behind the Belsfield and only a five minutes walk to the lake. The owner and staff were very attentive and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are in great locations around the hotel, The Mews was exceptional and very quiet.

Weve just spent three nights at the Burn How in the worst March weather possible but that didn't matter to us as our stay was very pleasant in a nice clean en suited room with a four poster (decor in this room was a little dated though ) The staff were very attentive and the Restaurant was top class with food that would make John and Greg from Masterchef drool !! Also it had been a belated 60th birthday present for my husband and a birthday card was waiting for him in our room ... a nice touch.... 3 stars this should be 5 for the food alone .we'll most certainly return to this superb little gem.

It was with great delight that we read your review, thank you for taking the time to do so, the chef was delighted at your Master Chef comments.
We hope that you will be able to visit us when the sun shines later in the year, which often does even though the weather forcasters get it wrong!

We also stayed in the large house behind the main building. A great room (Room 24) with en suite facilities. This is the first time that we've ever been to the lakes. The stay here made it special and very easy. As we were minutes away from the centre, this was ideal. The room was very clean, spacious and cosy. The reviews on here sell the place in its own right. The bed appeared to be king size . The decor is suggested by some reviewers to be in need of modernisation, but I wouldn't be put off from that. I am only disappointed that we chose to try the one night instead of 2! The staff were very pleasant and helpful. As most reviews say, the breakfast is amazing! Excellent value. We'll be back
