Stayed one night, had a family room which was very spacious. The weather was wonderful so really nice to sit out and enjoy the garden. Staff friendly and attentive. Very chilled out, relaxing break.

We enjoyed three delightful days at this hotel; after being re-directed here from one up the road with a similar name!
From the start, and our warm welcome,we were shown to our beautifully clean and spacious room overlooking formal gardens and the hills in the distance. The compliamentary drinks table sported every kind of tea, coffee imaginable plus hot chocolate and Ovaltine sachets. The White Company bathroom goodies were a lovely touch, as were the huge, fluffy dressing gowns and the full-sized bath to boot!
We felt that this was a place that would have been horrified if anyone had suggested cutting corners in persuit of extra company profit!
The breakfasts were very good, apart from an initial language difficulty with the bright, attentive young, imported staff.

Unfortnately the garden didn't have the care and attention it deseerved. It is huge in area and needs a greater workforce - certainly initially - to put it back into shape, lthough I sure that the present ground staff works hard.
This being said, we had a lovely time and would love to return soon - perhaps when we can book on a dinner / bed breakfast basis.

Spotless & Comfortable Hotel, Very Friendly Staff and breakfast and good as it gets. We did stay on Dinner, Bed & Breakfast although it seemed that at least 50 per cent of the guests stayed on Bed & Breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed the Hotel the only problem was some of the starters and deserts at dinner was served not on plates but on slates approximately 10cms by 25cms. Our bedroom, as indicated by the red arrow in the attached photograph, was immediately over the dining room and being on a corner we had a side and front view of the garden. We did, however, have a slight problem with the shower over the bath when trying to adjust the temperature. Immediately outside the entrance to the room was an open air balcony, with a bench and small table, that could also be used by any of the other bedrooms on that corridor. The second photograph was taken from our bedroom and the third from the open air balcony and Lake Windermere can just be seen through the trees.

This hotel was beautiful. The lounge looked onto the pretty grounds and you could see the Lake. We took our daughter for a walk on the grounds and took some delightful photos. It was a nice sunny day and she enjoyed being able to run around and see the pond and the views. Nice to be away from the busy town centre and the Lake. So peaceful and tranquil. The staff (girls in reception and the waiters) were really lovely and nothing was too much trouble - no matter what time of day or night.
We had the family room which was very spacious. In some hotels they just shove an extra bed into a double room and call it a fmaily room - but not here. Would have preferred a room with a lake view - but can't have everything. The room & en-suite were both clean and the beds comfortable. Nice flat screen tv, kettle and tv-making stuff. They also do a turn-down service in the evening.
Cooked breakfast in the morning was lovely. We didn't go for an evening meal because we wanted to go into town and soak up the atmosphere.
The hotel has a swimming pool, sauna and spa treatments. Didn't know about this or would have packed my swimming costume! We only stayed one night but if we'd stayed longer I would have tried the spa.
Overall a really really nice hotel. The design is sympathetic to the history and tradition of the house - so although it might seem 'old-fashioned' and chintzy, it is done so nicely and makes it very cosy (esp in front of the fire in the lounge!). Would def recommend!!

We spent three nights at Lindeth Howe with our teenage daughters on a special offer package that compared very favourably with the room rack rate, particularly since dinner was included free of charge. Rooms were in good condition, scrupulously clean and very well serviced, with an evening turndown and prompt refilling of anything we used on the well-stocked hospitality trays. We noted the complimentary upgrade to a Superior double, I assume so that we could be next door to our daughters' Standard twin, which was not mentioned but was much appreciated. The pool, spa and fitness facilities are small but adequate, and again clean and modern. The public areas are welcoming and quiet, and the staff were excellent - yes, one or two had the occasional blip with their English, but not in any way that was a problem, and more than made up for by their friendliness and obvious desire to do a good job and make guests as welcome as possible. We liked the way the hotel balances the needs of older and younger guests - a special early high tea is served for small children, and full waiter service is laid on in the library for families dining with little ones, so that the dining room remains a quieter environment for adults and older children, who eat a little later. And the food was really fabulous. I disagree strongly with an earlier comment that it was old-fashioned - yes, it's nouvelle cuisine with a local twist, but really beautifully done, with ingredients sourced from the surrounding area. It's not cheap, but I've paid much more for far worse food, and the five-course table d'hote menu, which changes nightly, was varied, well thought-out, beautifully cooked and presented, and plentiful enough for the healthiest appetite. I'd also hesitate to describe the breakfast as "basic", and I wonder whether that reviewer stuck with the fruit, cereal and juice available self-service, and didn't opt for the cooked and continental selections, which are cooked to order and all included in the one price. My daughters definitely recommend the cooked breakfast! If there was one thing we had to pick on it would be the music in the public areas, which seemed to be confined to a single (admittedly very soothing) selection, which went round and round on a loop about an hour long. We soon got to anticipate the next track, particularly during our leisurely evening dinner, and would suggest investing in a couple more tapes or CDs for variety's sake. However, this is just a niggle. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed Lindeth Howe, would cheerfully recommend it to anyone for a special break, and would happily go back.

This was our second visit to this beautiful hotel and we were not disappointed as you often can be when returning somewhere. Again, we a `bed, breakfast +dinner` offer and chose to upgrade to a DeLuxe Lake View Room. It was certainly worth paying for this upgrade as the room was lovely and the view magnificent. Once again, the food was superb with breakfasts more than ample with so much choice, and the dinner menues good enough to rival any top restaurant. This year we stayed 3 nights ( 2 last year ) and were glad of the extra night as it was just that bit more of an unwinding break. We did not make time to use the Hotel`s pool, sauna, spa treatments or gym-- we were far too chilled and relaxed to stir ourselves for anything that energetic ! All the staff were friendly, polite+ helpful from the moment of arrival to checkout and the rooms kept spotless withany items used replaced frequently--- waste bins emptied twice a day--without disturbing us once. We would recommend this Hotel to anyone either for a special occasion or just for a relaxing break. We will certainly be returning. Anyone who likes good food should give this a try---a gastronomic delight.
