“Five Star all the way”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

I booked this on Lindeth Howe website as a Date Night, one night dinner bed and breakfast. This was ideal as I didn't want a long weekend due to family commitments. The room was a Deluxe facing the lake, beautiful. The weather was atrocious which made it all the more cozy. Enormous bed like a giant marshmallow very comfortable, bath and shower with large fluffy dressing gowns and slippers. Dinner was served in the dining room accompanied by piano player. The food was as always amazing, the wine like nectar. Very well worth the price and ideal for us parents in need of a quick break and some luxury. Whoops, forgot to mention the pool and steam room, didn't venture in on this visit too comfortable lazing in front of the log fire with a glass of red wine!

Room Tip: Ask if a upgrade is possible, we didn't pay any extra. Get a taxi up to Bowness if the weather i...

We had been travelling in UK for 3 weeks in 9 different hotels.

Lindeth Howe is an accommodation out from the city area. It needs at least 20-25 mins walk and some points there are no footpath for around 200 yards so it is quite dangerous walking to the closest town where shops are. At night there are no street light. It means that if you attempt to walk into the small road and turn left into an alley where this hotel is, you really need a flashlight because it was completely dark. And yes, we did walk both day and night time.

You don’t really see the lake here. You can only see it from the town. So you have only the English garden view.

But if you like a quiet place, have you own car to the place and eat & drink in, that might be it. Prices are for a 4 star standard though.

The breakfast was poor and very very limited. The worst goes to Kipper fish menu. Full of bones. Incredibly full of bones. Even a fish lover like me can’t eat that indeed. They also served relatively burnt toasts as well. From what I see around ordering a simple English breakfast menu would be the safest choice.

Also the staff service needs some more professional trainings. After waiting for the table to be cleaned for 10 mins, we got a table. The way this lady service was point a finger to us to sit in that table and she walked towards another way, to the kitchen maybe. We sat there for a while unsure how they serve breakfast here tip she came back.

Cleanliness is key for our usual stay and this hotel did not satisfy us. Cups are stained from the previous drinker as we could see the lip mark on the edge. I guess it is chocolate stain.

They do provide luxury branded bathroom amenities though, The White Company.

There is no fridge in the room so be careful of what you bring or buy that needs to be refridgerated.

No bathrobe. Water pressure needs a lot of improvement. It’s very weak and didn’t make me enjoy the shower in the cold day at all. The plastic cups wrapped in plastic sheet in the bathroom should be replaced with real glass for this standard of hotel as they say 4 star. They look very cheap.

They provide hot - cold tap waters not in the same pipe making it is uncomfortable to get a decent temperature water in this cold day. We expected more on this in this rated hotel.

There is a number of very nice inns and houses in town or near the town. I would recommend those in terms of location wise for nicer view of the lake and a nice cafe in short distance.

Hello Tzazen
I was sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us as much as you had hoped. We at Lindeth Howe try are upmost to make all our guests time with us an enjoyable one and on this occasion it seems we have not managed to do that. When you are next in Bowness on Windermere hopefully you will give Lindeth Howe a chance to redeem its self.
Best Wishes

This hotel has everything. Superb staff, food and rooms. If you get a chance, visit - you won't be disappointed. Seen some complaints about quantity of food, give me quality over quantity any time. This was our first but won't be our last visit.

A lovely Spring treat, two nights' dinner, bed and breakfast in this excellent hotel. Everything was perfect, from the beautiful deluxe room, spacious and comfortable, to the cosy lounge for pre-dinner drinks, followed by a delicious five course meal. We both tried the pork and the beef, and these were excellent, so flavoursome. Breakfast was also delicious, and followed by a stroll in the lovely grounds in the sunshine, topped off a wonderful couple of days. Will definitely return!

Overnight DBB break as a treat for the Boss [ and myself!] Spacious corner room at front of house [ deluxe room] with views overlooking Lake Windermere from one window and the meandering gardens and wildlife of Lindeth Howe from the other [morning visit from heron alongside pond]. The sun was streaming in all day long! Really comfortable huge bed, spacious room, country house style with seating area and adjacent balcony to room for sitting out to survey the views, peace and tranquility! Joined numerous other guests, mainly couples enjoying a leisurely afternoon tea in one of the comfortable sitting rooms with their numerous squidgy sofas and sedate but comfy furniture. All the staff of this family owned establishment are friendly, helpful and courteous from the moment you arrive, whilst maintaining a laid back relaxing environment! The 5 course table d'hote dinner including canapes + amuse bouche was more than adequate for us both, though I notice some previous reviews commented on small portion size!! [Are these people eating for Britain I ask myself!?!] Exquisitely presented plates of food, tasty local produce to tickle the tastebuds, served in the newly refurbished dining room restaurant. Other guests really friendly. Overall one feels quite at home relaxing here, without there being any airs of prentiousness in overall hospitality and service!
Swimming pool lovely and warm [ had it all to myself!] with sauna facility + small gym should you wish to burn off a few calories before dinner!
My only disappointment was having to leave after a very tasty breakfast. Next visit will be longer!

Room Tip: We enjoyed room 111 - fantastic views at this time of year!

My best friend and I booked this via a deal on groupon.
The place was spotless, with highly attentive staff who surpassed every requirement. My 11 year old daughter accompanied us and they made her feel v welcome, including her in the little special touches with our 5 course dinner.
The food was amazing, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour.
I can also highly recommend the afternoon tea, taken in front of a roaring fire after a wonderful stroll to the lake( which can be reached walking from the hotel in about 20 min) I've never had better, and liked the special touches, like dressed salad on the side.we even managed a swim and sauna after breakup.A v restorative break Thankyou

Stayed for one night as we had an overnight deal which included afternoon tea, dinner and bed and breakfast.
Excellent food at afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast. The staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. Didn't get chance to use pool.
A really enjoyable stay with great room overlooking the lake.
