This hotel is a family run business by lovely Mrs Kennedy and her friendly daughter-Sheena. It did give us a personal touch like a B&B. There are parking lots available in front of the hotel. We stayed one night at "Esthwaite" room, a clean, bright and beautifully furnished and country style decorated classic room. We enjoyed the picturesque garden view and it offered some view of Lake Windermere. The room's temperature, lighting were just perfect.

We had our 4 courses dinner at the hotel's dining room. It was a briliant choice. It saved us the hassle of finding a good restaurant in the village. Although at £36 per pax seem a little pricey, but given the service and quality of food, it was value for money . I love the home made raisin bread , and had even asked for 2nd serving. While the staff were arranging our dinner table, we were greeted by Mrs Kennedy and led to one of the reception room with some snacks, where we had a lovely short chat with her.

Breakfast was excellent with selection from the mini buffet bar, or either to order from the ala-carte hot meal menu. My husband had the Lindeth English breakfast, whereas I had hot porridge with honey.

It shall take 30 minutes walk down to the hill to Bowness-on-Windermere pier, where we would be taking the lake cruise. But it only took 5-7 minutes drive to the pier point and you can park at the nearby carpark.

No negative comment from me. The only suggestion I have would be to play some soft music before meals while guests are seated at the lobby's reception room.

I will come back to this hotel if I am returning to Bowness-On-Windermere, and hopefully the services and quality standards remain, especially the cleanliness of the room and toilet.

If you like comfort, excellent service, good food and wine this is the place to be. The hotel is spacious and in keeping with its period, lots of oak and an impressive staircase. Wonderful views of the lake from the sitting room and gardens. Review: Starting with the staff - they all appeared to enjoy being there, eager to help and make your stay enjoyable (not necessarily what we have experienced of late in some other hotels!) Pre dinner drinks in one of the very comfortable lounges before being shown through to the restaurant. The food is excellent with a good selection every evening. No stress about where to sit - the table is the same each day with an option to change if desired. Staff lovely and very efficient. We have stayed in two rooms, Windermere and Haweswater. Windermere is a Master room, very comfortable, great views and quiet and spacious. Haweswater is on the second floor, sit up in bed to have the best views of the lake! The rooms are serviced to a very high standard with iced water in a thermos every day and fresh milk! We have stayed twice and have booked to stay again, this really speaks for itself.

We finished off celebrating my wifes birthday with an excellent evening meal at this beautiful hotel. We were made to feel very special by all the staff during the time we were there and the surroundings were delightful. We will definitely return.

This Country House Hotel has beautiful vies over Lake Windermere and beyond and is in a good position for visiting other Lakes. We were efficiently welcomed and shown to 'Thirlmere' the superior room we had booked on the first floor - what a disappointment, apart from the view. The room was very small and decorated in green which made it feel very claustrophobic, especially with one wall being occupied by a green painted storage unit, this only had one cupboard within reach and hanging space, the cupboards above being too high and we had to keep items of underwear etc in our cases as there was no chest of drawers. One side of the bed there was only room for a small triangle of wood fitted into the corner of the wall to act as a bedside table. Overall we felt this was not a 'Superior Room' and was poor value for money.

The rest of the hotel is as you would expect from an Edwardian Country House that still hasn't arrived in the 21st century and we found the public rooms rather a 'time warp' with lots of floral and pale coloured furnishings and old sofas and armchairs. We were surprised there was not a designated bar area, but pre-dinner drinks could be ordered in the lounges.

The restaurant had lovely views, but lacked atmosphere and although the highly trained waiting staff did their best to be friendly it was hard to feel relaxed in this very quiet room. The menu changed daily, which we enjoyed, unfortunately this did not apply to the vegetables, which were the same plainly boiled or steamed selection each evening of our stay.

We found the atmosphere in the hotel rather stilted; it probably suited the majority of the guests who were very elderly and most of whom seemed to have been returning for many years. However it did not make for a happy holiday atmosphere and we will not be returning, when there is such a great choice of accommodation in The Lake District.

A really wonderful hotel, owned and managed by Mrs Kennedy and her daughter Sheena.
Their personal touch can be felt throughout the hotel.
The staff are delightful and always have the time to stop and chat and help with anything.
The food is delicious and varied enough for all tastes.Choosing what to eat at breakfast could turn into an art form.
Dinner is four courses followed by coffee and Kendal Mint Cakes.(one is never enough)
The dinner menu is first class and equals that found in many expensive restaurants.
The hotel's location, overlooking the lake is stunning and to watch sundown from the restaurant while enjoying a beautiful meal and some rather fine wine is worth the trip to this gem of Windermere.
While we were there the guests were on the more mature side. It was great not having one's sleep broken by other guests coming in late at night etc.
Our stay was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable we have had anywhere in the UK.
As a certain Arnie often said "I'll be back"

Room Tip: There is not a lift so if you do not want to climb the stairs avoid the top floor rooms. The lake views are really lovely.

Dear Glacken,
What a lovely review! Thank you so much.
It is having wonderful guests too that makes Lindeth Fell such a delight.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so a good choice is essential.
We look forward to welcoming you both back soon.
With best wishes,
Caroline
