“Friendly and Relaxing Hotel...”
Reviewed July 13, 2010

It is a quite smart hotel situated near lake Windermere surrounded by very beautiful gardens. The rooms are very stylish and all have beautiful different views either looking to the lake or over the hotel gardens. The terrace restaurant of the hotel is superbly furnished with stunning views of the lake and offers a different set menu every morning and evening. The hotel staff all are very nice friendly and hospitable, we would like to recommend this hotel to everyone who come to visit the lake district area.

Just returned from a three night stay which included breakfast and dinner. Our room which I understand is described as a Lake View Superior was at the top of the hotel. Although easily accessible by us it would be difficult for elderly or the less mobile due to the narrow steep access stairs from the first floor upwards.

The room was a good size and had a decent view but was slightly tired. I felt the room needed a good spring clean. The carpet wasn't as spotless as it could be (needed a good steam clean) and there was a faint damp stain on the ceiling.

We had originally been offered room 9 (a Lakeview room) which to be honest was quite small with tired furnishings (faded) blue in colour (never a very homely or welcoming colour). Room 9 however did appear to have a brand new bathroom, I am not sure why they didn't refurbish the rest of the room.

So far this review seems a little negative. A definite positive is the restaurant and it's staff. Breakfast was as good as a breakfast can be. There was a choice of hot, cooked to order, food ranging from a perfect full english to kippers. Dinner was also very good with a varied menu which changed daily. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient and genuinely left you feeling that nothing was too much trouble - 10/10 for them.

The hotel is about a twenty minute walk away from Bowness village (a little longer back up the hill) and is a good place for a quiet weekend away. It seems from the guests we saw to be particularly popular with seniors, many of whom return regularly.

Overall we had a good stay here and felt that the bed, breakfast and dinner package offered good value.

We took a winter special break here because the hotel had been recommended to us by someone, and we were not disappointed.
The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. We had arranged to meet friends so we did not eat in the hotel but the menu looked excellent. The staff were very friendly and some of the rooms were in the process of being decorated and having new bathrooms so we would be happy to recommend staying here.

My wife and I have stayed in many hotels in the UK and throughout the World and this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. A fantastic location with great views over Lake Windermere. The hotel is kept in a first class condition with excellent lounges, bar and an extremely inviting dining room with fine views over an extensive garden towards the lake. Our room was cosy, large, spotless, well decorated with an a very modern bathroom complete with spa bath and separate shower. The hotel restaurant serves food of the highest standard and in our opinion is well above the two rosettes it has received. Both dinner and breakfast are not to be missed. All the hotel staff are excellent, very friendly and keen to help. Service in the restaurant cannot be faulted and thanks to Brian for making us feel so welcome. This hotel cannot be faulted and the very high number of return guests reflects this outstanding hotel. We will definitely return in the near future.

We were part of a classic car tour group. The Management and staff were superb, the attention to detail was excellent, splendid comfortable accommodation, and the food was out of this world. Our group have stayed at good hotels for this annual tour - Fayrer Garden was the best by far. A credit to the industry

We were lucky enough to be able to book the whole hotel for the 20th Anniversary celebrations of our walking group. Given the nature of previous reviews, we came with high expectations and these were not disappointed in any way. There was nothing but praise and admiration from the group for the professionalism, thoughtfulness and commitment of the incredibly hardworking and friendly staff, for the quality of all the rooms, and the superb food, not to mention the beauty of the hotel in its exceptional setting. If you are looking for an unpretentious yet high quality Lake District break in peaceful and beautiful surroundings with first class food, and amazingly helpful and professional staff, then the Fayrer Garden is a pretty good bet for a wonderful holiday. P.S. there is nothing at all wrong with room 8 now as far as we could determine and it is a beautiful option.
