“Simply a beautiful Hotel.”
Reviewed February 19, 2014 via mobile

I brought my Wife to this idilic Hotel for a three day break and was not disappointed in the slightest. The grounds are vast and professionally maintained and overlook the lake. The room we upgraded to on arrival had a wonderful view of the lake and was very comfortable with a lovely spar bath in it which was much appreciated by my Wife. The service was friendly and professional at all times with the food being simply stunning. I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough and if we return for a second trip would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you to all the staff for making our mini break one to remember.

visited wife and sam the dog on a travelzoo deal in mid December 2013.
didn't see the main hotel rooms but am sure the are very good.
stayed in annexe bungalow in the grounds, which was standard accommodation.
The food especially dinner was fine dining and very tasty.Breakfast was very good encompassing fresh fruit, croissants and the usual smoked fish and cooked breakfasts .
check out was efficient and the whole experience was a good one

Booked this hotel for a relaxing break after a hectic work schedule. We were greeted very politely and check in was efficient and friendly. Our room was on the first floor and had a lovely view of the lake. The room wasn't the largest we have ever had but it had everything we required and was spotlessly clean. The ensuite was a good size and had a jacuzzi bath with lovely bathing products supplied. There was also a good selection of tea and coffee and lovely shortbread biscuits. The evening meal was really excellent from the canapés served in the bar, whilst we perused the menu and extensive wine list, to the beautifully presented main course and wonderful desert. We also enjoyed an amuse bouche which was very tasty. Coffee and petit fours were served in the comfortable lounge where you could share conversation with the other guests if you wanted to or there were quiet corners to sit in if you preferred your own company. The staff at the hotel were exemplerary, they were there should you require any assistance but they were'nt constantly appearing asking if everything was ok. The view from the lounge and dining room was beautiful overlooking he lake, gardens and surrounding hills. Breakfast was excellent too with a selection of fruit and cereal nod cooked items to order including kippers and smoked salmon with scrambled egg. Toast preserves and pastries were also available if our could manage them. We will definately return to this lovely hotel in the future probably in the summer time when you could enjoy the beautiful grounds as well.

My husband and I stayed here for one night using a Travelzoo voucher which included bed, breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner. We never sampled the afternoon tea as we were late in arriving due to bad weather, we were offered the chance to take it the next day but our other plans got in the way.
The room was compact but was comfortable and the toiletries were very nice. We had drinks in the bar/lounge and were happy to find a good range of soft drinks (I am pregnant) which were not over-priced which was doubly refreshing! Dinner was served in the conservatory dining room which overlooks the garden and lake. Service was a little rigid-one of the waiters seemed a little taken aback by our request to have tea and coffee served along with our pudding in the dining room and not (gasp!) the lounge, but he got over it!
Breakfast was very good and the location is fantastic for visiting Windermere.

We stayed at this hotel on a short break, it exceeded our expectations. The welcome from the reception staff was warm and friendly, the room and bathroom was spotlessly clean as was the hotel in general. Dining at the hotel was a wonderful experience the food was carefully prepared by skilled chefs and was presented by attentive but not fussy dining room staff and the quality and freshness of ingredients was apparent as each course revealed excellent flavours. The portions were just right and you left the table amply satisfied. The beds were very comfortable and rooms quiet, the hotel is off the main road and whilst our room faced the main road there was no sound of traffic as the hotel was screened by large trees. We would certainly return to this hotel again for another stay in the future.

My husband and and our wee dog had a lovely one night break last weekend and could not fault any part of our stay. The room was ideal for us in the cottage, the staff could not have been more friendly or done any more to make our stay perfect. The setting is beautiful overlooking Lake Windermere and although we only live locally, we plan to return.
