Lovely weekend with friends at this beautiful hotel. Room, views, staff, food, attention to detail all excellent. A very relaxing experience. This is hospitality as it used to be. Will be recommending it. Got the deal through Travelzoo but it would have been worth it at the full price.

This is a beautiful, tranquil small hotel in a lovely setting with amazing views. All of the staff were excellent. The service was fantastic and the evening meal was superb. That was the same for the cream tea and breakfast. The only thing I didn't like was the type of tea that they used so maybe a good idea to take your own if you're precious about a good cuppa. We got a great deal via Travelzoo which was well worth the money. It was a present for my parents and they were blown away.

Room Tip: We had a superior Lake View room which was lovely with a great view. Not sure it's worth the ext...

We stayed for one night only in a Standard room (5), redeeming a Travelzoo offer. The room was well appointed with a huge bed, desk, en suite etc, as one would expect from a hotel of this standard. The room was on the small side, however, located on the ground floor just past the restaurant. Noise was minimal but did have a few guests passing the room. The carpet could do with a clean in places.

The cream tea was really yummy, warm (plain) scones with cream and jam and a brew.

The lounge and restaurant both have stunning views of Lake Windermere. The lounge has comfortable chairs and sofas and a peaceful atmosphere. The pretty gardens are inviting and well maintained with places to sit and enjoy the views.

Dinner was really delicious, from the canapes, to the pre-starter through to dessert. Good portion sizes and beautifully presented on the plate. Breakfast was also scrumptious.

We enjoyed a pleasant walk to Bowness, which is not far but uphill on the way back!

Service was first class throughout our too-short stay and we highly recommend the Fayrer Garden.

Room Tip: We only saw our room, which only had a view of the drive through a gap. Rooms with lake views must...

My wife and i recently attended a wedding at the hotel, stayed in a garden view room which was really nice. We were really well looked after all day by the hotel staff as we treated to an afternoon tea on Lake Windermere as part of the wedding. We would certainly stay at the hotel again if we were staying in the area.

Visited with my husband on a weekend deal, we upgraded to a garden view room which was very comfortable but not sure if it was worth the extra £30 as most of the rooms look out onto the gardens. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens overlooking Lake Windermere in the distance. It is a bit far to walk into Bowness but the restaurant serves excellent food so there is really no need to eat anywhere else in the evening.
The staff are what make this hotel special, they are trained to the highest standard of customer care and nothing is to much trouble for them. The hotel is a typical country house so don't expect boutique standards but the bedrooms are nicely presented ( dodgy shower but I think that's more to do with old plumbing)
Down stairs there is a nice comfortable lounge, this is very quiet and I think it could have done with a bit of music in the evening when you are waiting for your evening meal, the bar is pleasant and a good place to relax. The standard of food and service in the restaurant is excellent, don't expect large portions but there are plenty of courses and the food quality is of a very high standard. When we were there a number of locals were eating in the restaurant so I think that shows how good the food was.
If I was to criticise anything I think the bathroom could have done with a bit of updating, and extra's such as a shower cap would have been welcome. The bathroom whilst clean could have done with a bit more attention to detail. I have difficulty sleeping if the room is not totally dark and we found that the curtains didn't close fully, and the blind didn't keep out ligh,t as we were on the front of the hotel street lamps were on all night so there was quite a bit of light coming through the window
Overall we had a good time at Fayer Garden and would visit again, probably when the weather was a bit better so we could enjoy the garden.I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake, but be prepared to pay extra
