We stayed for a two night weekend having booked a lake view room. We were delighted to be upgraded to a superior lake view room at no extra cost. However, we were surprised to discover that it smelt strongly of stale tobacco smoke which we were unable to remove completely even though we left windows wide open. In fairness the management display notices reminding guests of the 'no smoking' law, but obviously find it difficult to enforce!
The food on both nights was outstanding and the service excellent with helpful young staff and attentive manager. The dining room has good views of Lake Windermere and the hills beyond. We disliked the awful piped music which so often ruins a hotel's atmosphere. It is so peaceful at the Fayrer Garden and such lovely views do not deserve Doris Day at dinner nor Lakeland Radio for breakfast!! On this point, breakfast was also well presented with plenty of choice and delicious ingredients.
Good parking and pretty gardens, with a large terrace which will be very pleasant in the summer. A very relaxing stay.

We have just got back from 3 nights over easter at the Fayrer Garden House Hotel and would definitely recommend the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it had a very comfortable and relaxed homely feel. We went for a standard double and were allocated room 16 which had great views of the garden and was very nice. There is a large lounge, a smaller bar and large dining room which are great areas to relax in with views over the lake if the weather means you'd like to have a lazy morning or afternoon. Great breakfasts and nice evening meals, although probably a bit over priced, service was very good and great coffee. The guests covered a range of ages from 30+. Seemed like lots of visitors were regulars.
Overall, the hotel was very comfortable, I would put well above its 3*. The rooms don't have mini bars or other box ticking items to get the stars, they offer more than that - like the Thorntons Easter egg on Easter Sunday morning. It was better than any 4* I've stayed in!

What a treat. Wanted a 3 day break- found details of this hotel and read trip advisor for review. Reviews looked good so I booked.

My wife and I had booked a standard room but on arrival we were given a superior room.

The bedroom standard was definately 3*** +. The meals were excellent. The staff helpful and friendly and delightfully complimentary about the hotel.

There was nothing we could fault - This establishment deserves to succeed. Wonderful surroundings by a caring staff. We were sorry when our 3 day break came to an end - Well done everbody

We have just had our wedding reception at The Fayrer Garden House, and all we can say is,what a delight!

All our guests stayed over, and everyone was in aggreement! From the moment of arrival, the staff couldnt be more helpful, friendly and proffesional!

Mark, the hotel manager, organised everything for us to perfection! Thankyou Mark! The hotel setting is wonderful, from the lovely gardens, to the magnificent views! The rooms were beautifully decorated to a very high standard, and immaculate! To top all this,
the food was excellent, our guests who enjoy visiting the lake district, said they will so look forward to staying there again! We had married abroad, and had booked the Fayrer Garden House for our reception on return, what a fabulous finale to our celebrations!

Thankyou again to Mark and staff.

Best Wishes
Wendy and Steve pyke x

My husband and I booked this excellent hotel for our Ruby Wedding in September. We booked it for our exclusive use for our family and friends.
Mark and his team could not have been more helpful, and the weekend exceeded our expectations. There were seven babies and todlars and four older children in our party, and the hotel borrowed extra cots and high chairs and provided early meals for the little ones.
The meal on the Saturday evening was superb, and they even provided a choice at each of the four courses, which is quite unusual for a large party.
We have been lucky enough to have done lots of travelling since our retirement,so we have a lot to compare this to,.As some friends of ours said "This was luxury without stuffiness".

My sister and I stayed for four nights at this lovely hotel at the end of September 2007. Everything about the hotel - the location, the rooms, the food, the attentive and helpful staff - was more in keeping with a luxury hotel, at a fraction of the cost.

We chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, and are glad that we did. The hotel is located a few minutes' walk from the shores of Lake Windermere, and the lake can be seen from the lounges and dining room, as well as some of the bedrooms. Our rooms did not have lake views, but were very pleasant in all other ways.

One of our ensuite bathrooms, which had a walk-in shower and no bath, was a little tight for space, and would not suit a couple sharing the room, although the room had a double bed.

Breakfasts and the four-course dinners at the hotel were very good, and there is a wide choice of wines at dinner.

We look forward to returning to the Fayrer very soon.
