My wife & I stayed here to celebrate my birthday. A small confusion around booking (twin or double) was quickly resolved by a very helpful receptionist who arranged an upgrade to a lovely lake view large double room (225). The hotel is a lovely old style hotel in a prime location with lake views and right in the town. Spa facility was first class. Room was a very good size and very well appointed with great facilities and a good bathroom – Only slight problem was it was very hot due to hot water pipe running around the room but the window opened and all was fine.

Only low point was dinner. We wanted to book for 7.30 but could only get a table @ 8.45 which seemed ok but service was so slow it really was a shame. Took 45 mins to get starter and almost as long for main. We did not bother with a third course! Quality of food was top class just too slow coming. Waiting staff very good and seem embarrassed by delays (blamed on short staffing in Kitchen and a table of 14 arriving late) and did provide free drinks. Rating of service ONLY relates to slow kitchen otherwise would have been good.

Breakfast was first class and Waitress Laura was the very best!

I would certainly recommend and would go again but would be wary of eating Dinner if in any kind of a rush.

only just returned and eager to re book. Whilst i am sure there are cheaper hotels in the area to stay at, this is where you want to be. the staff are friendly and helpful, the location is excellent with lovely views of the lake and the rooms are delightful. There is everything there that you could ask for.

There was nothing to find fault about. The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The rooms, whilst not huge, were very comforatable. The bed and pilllows were the best I have found outside my own home (we have a very comfy bed). The restaurant service was very good and there seemed to be a high ratio of staff to guests.
As for the food, breakfast was full english or a choice of various smoked fish, all very hearty and very tasty. Dinner was a limited choice but what there was was presented very well and tasted very good.
The swimming pool and spa were well used by us this included ice room, steam room and sauna. All very refreshing and all immaculately presented.
We intend to return for another weekend break in the next month or so.
