This was the first time that we have stayed at the Macdonald Old England Hotel and everything about it was perfect. Excellent food accomodation and very helpful staff.
We will definately be going back again.

Room Tip: It would be worth paying for an upgrade for a room with a view of the lake

Just had a two night break in this lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent. We didn't have a lake view from our room but this was not a problem when the very comfortable public rooms have a beautiful outlook over the water which you can admire while partaking of a delicious cream tea.

Spent 2 nights here in Nov.Unfortunately we didn't get a room with a view so could have been anywhere. I do not think that this hotel offers value for money. Room ok , bathroom fine -but would have expected twin basin and staff anything but friendly- with 1 or 2 exceptions. Not what I expect form a 4 star hotel.

Pool good but not very warm and would have been horrid if more than 5 or 6 people in it.

    We certainly won't return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake.

We booked this hotel through Superbreak, it was a lovely 2 night break with full breakfast.
We had a really nice room, with a large sitting area and a large bathroom with walk in shower,
it was really nice with the facility of piped music from the television in the sitting room. The only downfall was that we didnt have a picture window or lake view, just velux windows.
Service in the Dining room for breakfast was really good, lovely views out to the lawn watching the ducks feed and views of the lake, it was really nice.
I would definatley go back to this hotel

What a fab location, this is a place to stay if you want to spoil yourself. We stayed in room 126 a feature room, and it had all the quirky features of the old building. The food was lovely and we had no complaints, and i must say all the staff were polite, friendly and very accommadating no matter what we asked for. I would recommend this hotel happily to anyone.
