“Can't wait to go back”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

Have just returned from a lovely 3 night break in this charming B&B. a frienfly welcome, glass of complimetary wine delivered to the room and attentive staff equaled a fantastic stay for us at Virginia Cottage.

We stayed in room 6, the suite room, which has a lovely large bedroom, a snug TV room and large bathroom with spa bath - bliss!

Breakfast was efficient and hearty and they will pretty much make you whatever you fancy!

A massive thank you to David and Helen for a wonderful break, we can't wait to return

Room Tip: Room 6 is a large suite.

Recently stayed here for a 3 day break with my wife. Owner gave us a warm welcome on arrival offered to carry our luggage etc, brought us a glass of wine each to our room on arrival ( nice gesture) we stayed in room 3 at the back of the hotel ( nice and quiet ) but a very small room on the lines of a bedroom in a caravan. Nice lounge area downstairs for guests to use tea, coffee and biscuits laid out on a table, nice and relaxing after a hard day walking. Breakfast was excellent plenty of choice and always a pleasant welcome from the owners each morning. The owners were very helpful on places to visit and eat in the area.
Thank you for a wonderful warm friendly stay

This is the second time we have stayed at this Bed and Breakfast the first time being with different owners and a different room(8). Unfortunately this visit did not match the first, we were in room 11 which we booked due to the spa bath, four poster bed and bigger room. The spa bath room is extremely dated and tired with torn and missing flooring, the seperate toilet room has tiles missing and both rooms need some TLC. The bed however was extremely comfortable and the room was a good size. The room flooring however was extremely uneven under the carpet at some points. The owners were pleasant however attention detail wasn't great, while showing us our room on arrival the owner noted one of the bulbs from the ceiling light and blown but had apparently been fine prior to our arrival, of course this can happen at any time however this bulb was never replaced during our 3 night stay. We also noted in the morning after breakfast the linen napkins were refolded and replaced on the tables and not replaced by clean ones, each room had their own table but I still found this unacceptable practice.

Room Tip: Great location not too much noise even at the front of the house.

Room we booked was a four poster with 'spa' bath. Room was a bit dated however I found it quite charming. Great size and had everything we required. Location is perfect. 2 min walk to the lake and same to the centre of town where you'll find lots of bars, shops and restaurants. Would definately go back. Thanks for a great stay

My husband booked the suite for two nights to celebrate my birthday and I was impressed. It manages to be quaint, quirky and luxurious. We were met on arrival by a smile and a glass of chilled wine. The suite has a separate lounge area, which we used more than I thought we would. There was also a whirlpool bath, which was great after a day of walking. The hotel ws quiet at night, which matters a lot to us after spending a weekend in the lakes at a very noisy hotel previously.

The breakfast was lovely and service friendly. The hotel has a link to a very lovely spa too so we spent a morning there.

We would definitely choose to stay here again!

We stayed two nights in this nice old B&B. We had a good room at the backside and the couple running the B&B were very helpful. Although the house is located directlyat a busy road, we had a quit room and no real problem with sounds from traffic.
The continental breakfast consisted of freshly prepared croissants. We could make our own toast and lots of different kind of fruits were available.

Friendly welcome with help with our bags upstairs and a glass of chilled wine brought to our room which went down well especially after being stuck on the M6 for 4 hours on the way! The close off road parking way very useful as we were in the centre of Bowness. From our very clean room on the top floor the views were over the town to the hills but was quiet with little traffic noise. The room was large & airy with a separate sitting room and a spar bathroom. The 4 poster bed was a little firm but comfortable. A fridge & all tea/coffee items were supplied. Breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice. We had a pleasant 4 days & would stay here again.
