Mrs D has been badgering me to stay at Linthwaite for some while as its one of the few noted hotels in the Lakes where we haven't stayed so it being fathers day we decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea to see what Linthwaite has to offer.
Set up a secluded drive it has beautiful gardens and great views over descending terraces down to Lake Windermere. Service was attentive and polite and at first when the sandwiches arrived I thought I was going to be disappointed as I was somewhat hungry as there were only 8 small sandwiches between two of us. However any doubts were erased when the cakes arrived - a great selection and all very yummy - to be honest we couldn't manage them all and a couple of the scones came home with us to enjoy later.
We had a look around inside at the conservatory, bar , reception and dining areas and all appeared very well appointed and attractive with character.
Based on this brief visit Mrs D may well be getting a surprise stay !More
