“Another wonderful experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

This was our fourth visit to the Linthwaite and was once again a wonderful experience. We always tell the staff how happy we are with our stay but thought that this time we should share our comments.
The hotel is extremely comfortable and welcoming and the grounds are are a delight to wander around, particularly while the snow is on the ground.
The staff are absolute professionals and are a credit to Andrew, the manager. A nice touch is the way the staff address you by your name when they see you around the hotel.
The food is exceptionally good and never fails to impress us.
All in all a great visit to the Lakes and Linthwaite, thanks.

Room Tip: Can't really recommend any particular room as even the cheaper rooms in the hotel are good quali...

We stayed at Linthwaite house for 1 night after a shock bereavement and myself and my husband needed an escape from reality - we got exactly what we needed. The hotel staff were polite, friendly and perhaps my tearstained and gray face gave away that we wanted to be treated sensitively. They weren't too intrusive or over bearingly friendly but remained warm and welcoming - they pitched it just right for what we needed. The room we had (preferred double with lake view) was gorgeous, and had lots of nice touches ('proper' herdy mugs, jug of fresh milk rather than UHT) - things like this are small but add to the luxury feel. In the wider hotel, these small touches continue - free DVD library, selection of wellies for guests to borrow. We were completely won over by this hotel - and that was before we even tried the food in the restaurant! Fine dining at its best in our opinion, stunning food both in taste and presentation, in no way was flavour sacrificed for presentation. The atmosphere of the hotel also extended to the restaurant, it was fine dining, but no stuffiness and a nice relaxed friendly atmosphere. This place definitely deserves a Michelin star in my opinion - hopefully not long until they are rewarded.

Overall my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer and unfortunately had to return to face reality. Thank you to all the management and staff, we will be sure to return!

We try to go to Linthwaite at least once a year and this was only a one night stay for a birthday celebration. The food was, as ever, outstanding with excellent, friendly and unpretentious service.
Our room (14) was recently refurbished and is very well appointed and has an excellent view of the lake (weather permitting).
The standards never vary which is why we come back again and again.

Room Tip: You really need a lake view room for best effect.

I love the fact that you mention the word 'unpretentious'.

That's something we work very hard to achieve.

We don't like hotels where the staff look down their noses.

Being nice costs nothing after all.

We also like the fact that you for say our standards never vary; consistency is also a thing we all try hard to achieve but it isn't easy.

We couldn't do any of it without nice guests of course!

We hope to welcome you back again soon,

Kind regards

Mike Bevans and the team.

We spent our honeymoon here and stayed from 23rd to the 29th December...wow! What a gem we have found! The location is beautiful, the room (the loft suite) was pure luxury, the food was stunning and the staff fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble but the atmosphere is relaxed and informal - the other guests were all lovely too - completely unstuffy. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. We can't wait to come back. We've stayed across the Lakes in some lovely hotels but this is the best. Thank you to all who made our visit so memorable. We will return with friends and family in the future.

Room Tip: If staying here for a treat, push the boat out and go for the loft suite - TV in the huge bath was w...

Congratulations! And thanks for choosing to spend your honeymoon with us. The Loft Suite with the giant bath is very popular with honeymooners as is the one with the hot tub - R21!
We hope to be able to welcome you back again one day,
Best wishes from us all.

This was our 2nd visit to Linthwaite House and everything was perfect from start to finish. The staff are all friendly, helpful and professional and the house looks beautiful with the Christmas Decorations. The service is faultless and the food is excellent.

Many people write about the food the views and the decor, but like you I think that the service is very important. We employ a lot of wonderful staff who are encouraged to be themselves and we try to employ just nice people. So it's very rewarding for our managers and the staff to see some recognition.
Come back soon,
Kind regards,

We needed a short relaxing break not too far from home. Linthwaite House Hotel was the perfect choice -- for comfort, attractive surroundings both inside (elegant yet traditional Christmas decorations and rooms both elegant and comfortable) and out (the view over Windermere and the countryside with snow gleaming on the fells), excellent food -- wide choice and delicate preparation. Brilliant! But most of all, the staff were so friendly and helpful. A delightful and relaxing break -- a real treat! .
Places.to visit close by : Blackwell (the Arts & Crafts gem) and the lovely town of Kendal.
We hope to go back to Linthwaite soon.

Wonderful. Many thanks for that very kind review. And yes, Blackwell is a great place to go to just down the road, something to enjoy perhaps if it rains. Which of course is a very rare thing in the Lakes!
We hope to be able to welcome you back again in 2013.
Wishing you a Happy New Year,
