“Perfect Honeymoon”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

Myself and my new husband travelled to Linthwaite on the 14th October, the day after our wedding and stayed in the Luxury Lake View room with a hot tub. We have a baby and didn't want to travel too far but we still wanted a luxurious stay somewhere and we weren't disapointed.

We stayed for 4 nights and from the moment we checked in the service was outstanding. Everyone knew our name and that it was our honeymoon and the staff really couldn't do enough for you. The standard is really high but the atmosphere is in no way stuffy.

The lounge with it's roaring log fires was beautiful and made us feel like we were right at home.
Our room was amazing!! It was a good size, the furnishing was beautiful and the bed was one of the comfyist I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping in! The hot tub was out of this world!! Overlooking the beautiful green of the grounds and with a lovely view of the lake and mountains it was the perfect place to spend an afternoon with a bottle of bubbly! The bathroom went down a treat with my other half because of the TV in the bath that had access to sky sports!

We ate at the hotel a few times, on the Sunday that we arrived we had afternoon tea which was delicious and compared to some places in Leeds it was really well priced for the amount that we got.
Breakfast was beautiful, there is a buffet with fruit, yogurt and cerals and then a menu that offers fresh cooked food made to order, all of which was beautiful, especially the full breakfast. There was an endless supply of toast, tea and coffee on offer and if there was something on the menu that you wanted to change the staff bent over backwards to make it happen.
We had lunch a couple of times at the hotel from the less formal terrace menu and again it was delicious, the unstuffy burger was especially amazing!!
We ate dinner on our first and last night and it was out of this world!! I generally don't like fancy a la cart style food but everything that we both ate was amazing! Especially the Doddingtons risotto balls, they were a work of art! All of the ingrediants are local and to the highest quality, it really is worth every penny that you pay for it.
Drinks wise the prices weren't too scary compared to most hotels. For a Smirnoff Vodka and mixer it was around £6 which was far less than the hotel where we held our wedding reception. We were recomended a beautiful Vouvray wine which was £24 for a bottle so again compared to most places it was really good.

Some reviews that I read on here stated that they they thought the hotel was overpriced but when you consider the quality of everything that you get I persoanlly think that value for money wise it's really good. We paid £1500 for 4 nights in a luxury room, we had an amazing breakfast every day and an outstanding couple of dinners included in that price so in my opinion it was worth every penny.

All in all we had an amazing stay and it really was the perfect honeymoon (and coming from someone who loves the travel overseas that says a lot!) The level of service that we recieved had a lot to do with that and we can't thank the wonderful staff enough for making our stay so perfect.
I wouldn't hesistate to recomend Linthwaite House to anyone and we will definately be returning as soon as we can.

Me and my wife stayed here recently, the hotel grounds on arrival were well kept and impressive, the reception staff were very helpful, we were then shown to our room and the receptionist showed us round to make sure we knew where everything was.
The room it's self was fantastic there was plenty of room with sitting area and king size bed was great
The bathroom was lovely with big bath and separate shower
The hot tub was a nice touch and was private enough to enjoy at any time...
Only down side is that I can't afford to go more often

This cozy and meticulously maintained gem is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at. We had room 32 which has a DVD player, flatscreen TV, a brilliant wall closet and all kinds of unobtrusive technology and strategically placed lights...they have actually thought through where lights should be placed to give the room a really comfortable feel, e.g. in some of the corners. You'd never find these in any other hotel room and they add so much to the overall room experience. Spotlessly clean and very friendly staff who engage guests without hovering. Great breakfast. Just the right place for people who like a bit of luxury, but don't want to feel overwhelmed or intimidated. It's probably the first time we booked a hotel where expectations were actually exceeded. The vast grounds include an outdoor fountain, a circular path leading to a pond and a summer house and several lookouts which provide breathtaking views of Lake Windermere. We'll be back again and again. Book early, they are open 364 days, but are almost always fully booked.

Room Tip: We were in room 32 which doesn't face the lake, but beautiful woodland and it is quite spacious...

Hard to believe you are 5 min from Bowness. The setting is superb with lovely walks in the grounds including a tarn. The service was excellent: friendl,y unobtrusive and efficient. The menus were interesting and the food wonderful. An excellent luxurious break which was well worth the money.

Room Tip: If you can afford the lake view it's worth it.

Thanks for the great review. Yes just five minutes from Bowness but a haven of peace and tranquility.
That's why people like to stay at Linthwaite. Who wants to come away and hear the town's traffic?
Thanks a lot

My new wife and I loved our stay here and found the staff to be more than helpful but not intrusive or inclined to pester. Our room was always clean and well stocked with the basic necessities (coffee)
The food was the best I had ever tasted but I will say I was looking forward to having a simple meal like beans on toast by the time we had to leave.
We are hoping to go back here some time in the new year. We could find cheeper accommodation but we would miss the outstanding quality and relaxed atmosphere of linthwaite house hotel.

We would like to give a big thanks to James and the team for all their help and hospitality.
I don't feel I have even scratched the surface we it comes to reviewing this hotel as there is so many good things to cover about it!!

Went for afternoon tea with a buyagift voucher I received for my birthday. The setting was out of this world and the staff were really friendly.
The sandwiches and cakes were freshly made and I was hard pressed to find a favourite as they were all lovely.
All in all, a lovely treat

Many thanks for your kind review. Our afternoon teas have become very popular over the last few years. It's a great way of enjoying the view and indulging yourself. Scones, cakes, sandwiches; makes me feel hungry! Tuck in and enjoy.

Kind regards

We travelled up to Windamere last Saturday and booked to stay the night and have dinner. The hotel has a deal for room and dinner which was great value. We left it quite late to book and 2 hours before we set off booked the last available room. The receptionist was helpful and friendly. She described the evenings menu which was every bit as good in the eating as it sounded when explained at the time we booked. The hotel has a private lake which we enjoyed walking around before heading to the bar with its wonderful view over the lake and toward the hills in the distance. The wine list was good.
The staff were always friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The chap who ran front of house was great when picking wine to accompany our meal without being a wine snob or pushy. He selected a very reasonable bottle based on flavour not price and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Dinner was amazing in every respect. Well presented, tasty and left us comfortably full.
We would return tomorrow without hesitation and already have our eye on the room with hot tub.
