Food was ok my husband had the mixed grill which was about £16 the steak was chewy so he didn't enjoy that so much but I had lasagne which was very tasty an comes with chips and garlic bread for just less then £10 we had a couple of drinks by the coal fire which was lovely food was fresh not fast but we didn't mind waiting 30 mins as we knew the food would be fresh and hot!! Toilets could do with updating very old and dated but useable!!

Quintessential homely country pub. The highest standard of real ales. Lovely surroundings, and real fire. Good service. very good Cumberland Sausage and Yorkshire pud evening meal. A full English at lunchtime which cannot be bettered.

We went in and had dinner we had giant Yorkshire pudding with vegetarian sausages there was a choice of mash or chips and salad or veg. My partner had mixed grill. The portions were generous. We played pool while we waited for dinner. The vegetarian sausages are the best I've had. The cutlery is available from a table with all a good selection of condiments. We really enjoyed our food and drink.

Went for my mums birthday this weekend after booking in online for lunch. Our server was not on form. Forgot the starter, didn't put cutlery out until the dinners had been on the table a few minutes. Tables were not very clean or appealing either. Service very very poor considering the location and standard in general of the other pubs. Would not eat here again based on this.

Food on the other hand was excellent. All fresh and well cooked. Ice cream for the kids pudding was very cheap though, this was their opinion !!

Used the Oak on both Friday and Saturday night, the pub was busy but the staff were very welcoming and friendly, Molly our dog was well looked after with staff giving her biscuits all night. Typical Lakes pub, log fire and decent food and drink.
