Brilliant place well worth the money more than happy with my meal will definitely be returning. Not overpriced normal quality food but fair priced quality food a credit to the lakes

“Excellent food and service. A must try :-)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2014 via mobile

The place was packed, so we sat outside and ate. We both had the tandoori whole chicken breast served with garlic ciabatta, onion rings, chips, and a yoghurt and mint dip, (I didn't like the dip but my girlfriend did. Just down to personal taste). The meal was £11.95 each, which was value for money considering how much you get, and how nice the food is.

Also they have a large selection of wines, and even serve Martel, (a personal favourite of mine).

This is well worth a visit.

“Simply Awful.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

Wednesday evening, rain in the air so outside tables unused, very noisy and hot inside. Table for six pre-booked for 8pm. Took a while for orders to be taken but staff seemed willing and friendly enough. It was then that things began to go drastically wrong - an hour passed before an apologetic young man appeared to say that gammon, ordered by two of us, was off the menu so a rapid change of meal was required. More waiting and then, just at the point when a walkout was imminent, well it was 9.30, the food arrived - disappointing would not be the word for it. Almost inedible and yet expensive. Fortunately the paper napkins were of a substantial quality and served to remove most of the dross where later on it was given to the dog, who after a few suspicious sniffs managed to eat it. Well done! No leaks from these superior napkins.

After the experience of this course, desserts at £6.95 were turned down, and after parting with a great deal of money, possibly to contribute towards the payment of a brand new Range Rover parked next to the outside tables, and presumably owned by the management, we left this place never to return.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I do apologise for the wait which you experienced, however, having reviewed your visit on the CCTV, I can see that you have over-exaggerated the times waited. As we only use fresh ingredients, we can run out of ingredients quickly, and there was a further 18 cheques in front of yours which is why it took just over 20 minutes for the kitchen to realise and let you know that there was no more gammon for your order.

I take on board your criticism about the food and would like to assure you that this has been a very popular and successful menu. We are currently serving in excess of 300 meals every day although we are looking to change the menu after September. You are obviously used to different food and do not like our fresh, grill approach which is a personal choice, and I hope your dog enjoyed it more.

“Terrible, avoid this shambles.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014 via mobile

If I could give zero as a score I would. This is a waste of time and how they can call themselves a restaurant is beyond me. Walked into a restaurant which was hotter than the Sahara, greeted by tired and fed up looking waiters (probably a result of nearly every surrounding table complaining about something that was wrong) and left to wait dehydrating in the restaurant area for half an hour before someone thought taking a drinks order might be a sound idea. After the drinks were brought to the table we ordered food. Then had to endure a 40 minute wait only to be told that the gammon that two of us had ordered was no longer available. Another 20 minutes and our disappointing food arrived. An absolute shambles. No sign of management, just some boys waiting on and trying their hardest to stay with the world whilst facing abuse that should have gone direct to the chef and managers (if there even are any). Avoid at all costs. The charcoal grill kebab house would have been a better dining experience. Shambles.

On the night in question there was only a manager present, but also 2 supervisors and there were no problems with any other tables, only 1 complaint throughout the night. Therefore, it is very apparent that you and the reviewer above you are from the same table and have chosen to leave 2 reviews.

I find it quite shocking that despite almost all of the food being eaten, you have gone on to leave such bad reviews.Clearly the Village Inn is not to your taste; and I thank you for your review.
