Description: The Village Inn is one of Bowness-on-Windermere's most popular bars, situated just seconds from the shores of Lake Windermere and is open daily from 10am until late, serving fresh, locally sourced produce, with homemade pasta dishes and creations from the grill, a speciality. The bar offers a wide range of real ales and an excellent selection of vodkas, beers, brandies, and an extensive wine list with 50 wines from around the globe. In the summer, the Village Inn also launched a new range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, which have proved especially popular, in addition to new outside furniture and heaters. The Village Inn Bar and Grill is in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, its busy restaurant and bar make it a great place for locals and tourists a like. Come and see for yourself!

Good food at a very reasonable price, though it was hard to get served.
In the centre of town so is not a trek

The food was eventually good. However having bought the drinks I said "I would like to order some food"
"No" was the reply. "Chef says no more". After half an hour orders were once more allowed. ( Whoopy doo, we were so lucky). Had we not had a 3 year old with us and it was raining we would have walked out. I was also told to "get my own cutlery". The decor is weird but quite funky.
How much nicer it would have been to hear "Awfully sorry there will be a bit of a wait but what would you like to order?"
It says "BarGrill" on the sign. it was us that felt grilled.
Customer Service course a definite requirement.

Thank Steve B

Was disappointed in the service at the Village Inn. We sat outside for our first round of drinks, but after waiting and waiting in line at the bar to order a second round and food, we left to go eat somewhere else. The location was nice and central, but the lack of service outweighed its nice location.

This Pub has a prime location in Bowness-on-Windermere. We were lucky enough to be there on a beautiful sunny day and decide that our party would sit outside with the children. That was a mistake as the restaurant has quite a wasp problem and as soon as the drinks came to the table so did the wasps! We moved inside to eat our lunch. The children had fish and chips which they thoroughly enjoyed. The adults all ordered a sandwich which came with chips and salad. They were delicious and plentiful. It certainly is a nice place to eat but spoilt by the wasp problem if you choose to go there in August/September eat inside!!

We are glad to hear how much you enjoyed the food - adults and children alike. We serve up large, hearty portions to fill up even the most hardened of walkers taking in the beautiful scenery. It doesn't happen often enough that we get to enjoy sitting outside in the sun, and we are sorry to hear that wasps hindered your enjoyment. I can assure you this is the only time I have heard of wasps getting in the way, and don't cause anymore of a problem here than they do in all outdoor areas in the British summer.

DO NOT EAT HERE!! The most rude, badly run, chaotic joke of a restaurant iv ever been to. Had to wait for 90 minutes for 2 meals for me and my girlfriend. Ignored by the staff. Bartender Jose was clueless and rude. Originally sat outside in the sun, soon got chilly and asked to move inside which was 'fine' - gathered our belongings then only to be told all tables are reserved and we have to go back outside!! Embarrassing. Food was terrible and no cutlery supplied - you have to go and find it yourself. RUBBISH RESTAURANT!
