“Whats the beef? Room 4 is excellent.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

Me and my partner stayed in room 4 last weekend. I can't believe that the previous contributor could critise the room. The bed was low because it was a modern leather duvan and was clearly new, they failed to mention the room had a 42" flat screen television with a dvd player and complimentary dvd library.

The breakfast consisted of bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, tomato, black pudding, hash brown and mushroom with as much toast as we could handle. Ive come to the conclusion that the only people who put reviews on trip advisor are professional complainers.

The hotels guest book has nothing but praise for the staff, location, rooms and breakfast. All in all I've booked again for two months time.

We're a mature couple travelling with a dog, booked a 2 night break 14 and 15 August 2013, when booking we were told we would have a large double because we had a large dog. Arrived at hotel and were put in room 5, what a joke, very small, dark and unfriendly, no window in bathroom and you would be lucky to share with a goldfish let alone a Labrador dog, complained and moved to only other available room which was room 4, wasn't much better but at least had window in bathroom and some room, but that's not all. Firstly staff very friendly and its in a good location with bus stop outside and shops and cafes and restaurants nearby, now this is where it goes wrong....furniture held together with blue UPC tape, low bed which was very uncomfortable. Wallpaper bubbled and hanging off the wall, window rotten and glass had a very large crack in it, the wall had tea stains on it. Bathroom, roomy and lovely thick white towels .... But had leaking toilet, dirty floor, shower cubicle had loose doors and mould on the sealant. Breakfast was OK, but they couldn't accommodate us with brown toast and poached eggs, it was a basic breakfast which was overlooked not what I would class as a Lakeland breakfast. No good for kids. Poor value for money, pity as staff friendly....very much needs a refurb.

Room Tip: Just don't go.

We popped in for a drink on our holiday. £2.50 a bulmers or cidre is a win in our eyes. Lovely atmosphere and people. No one was shy to talk and a lovely lady from the bargain booze shop helped us out

The staff here are lovely and make you feel very welcome, bar service was great and breakfast was lovely. Food was hot and didn't wait long for service. The only reason I gave this a 3 was due to the housekeeping, it wasn't good. We stayed for 2 nights and on 2nd day our coffee cups had no been cleaned and beds wasn't made up or dirty towels were not replaced. Not been to a BB before were this has happened. The rooms could have been cleaner, this is all this BB needs is a bit of tender loving care. Bed wasn't very comfortable but as only staying 2 nights we could put up with this. Location was excellent and you can park for free round the corner by bowling green.

Room Tip: Free parking round the corner, this does have private car park signs but its a free public car park...

My wife and I stayed here mid July and found it to be the worst B&B we have ever experienced in the Windermere area.
On arrival the staff were polite and helpful but I disagreed with paying in full for the room on arrival for 3 days.
The room itself was a reasonable size but very gloomy. The bathroom was dirty with clumps of hair in the shower tray, the shower itself had no pressure and on using it for the first time cement fell off the wall.
The sink water would not drain away and was obviously choked.
The general cleanliness of the whole place was well below the standard we have come to expect from B&B's in Windermere which are usually of a very high standard.
The cooked breakfast took far too long to arrive (30mins after eating our cereal) which is very poor in my opinion.
If they had not taken the payment on arrival I would have immediately left and gone elsewhere.
I don't believe I have particularly high standards and I don't normally write reviews but feel obliged to warn others of the poor standard at this place.
We left after the 3 days and went to Autumn Leaves in Windermere which was fantastic and highly recommended!!!

Me, my partner and our 5 year old son stayed the night at the Ruskin's in Bowness.

The room was very nice, with a four poster for us and a single for our son. The room was immaculate and very comfortable.

The service and staff were excellent, very cheerful and extremely helpful, making us feel comfortable and at home immediately.

It is perfectly situated so that everything is within a few moments walk.

A great family run B&B within walking distance to the main attractions. We arrived to a friendly welcome and went to our room on the first floor. It was adequate for our needs and we loved it as they accepted our little dog Jimmy to stay too! There was a TV, a lovely comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities and even a complimentary bottle of wine! The breakfast is spot on and cooked to order. The locals certainly made us feel welcome at the karaoke that night. Please be aware that as these rooms are above a pub you will have noise until closing time- but if you're like us, we were in the pub ourselves until closing so didn't hear it on the first night! Would definitely visit again. Many thanks for a lovely weekend break and making us feel very welcome.
