We went to this eating establishment last evening and were served by a gentleman called Gianni and a lady called Michelle. They were both exceptionally attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Saturday evening , though I really don't know why because it is one of the best meals I have had in a long time. We were a party of seven and we were very happy with the food served. The fish curry consisted of scallops, king prawns, salmon and cod and though very hot the dish was still very tasty. I ordered the venison steak with a peppercorn sauce and asked for it to come with the house salad (mixed leaves, blue cheese, melon were amongst the ingredients), it was cooked to perfection. They also have a kids menu which we didn't utilise but is worthwhile knowing if visiting with young ones. The early dinner menu is very good value for money and is served until 7pm. I would have no hesitation in revisiting and recommending this restaurant to friends.

Just called in on a sunny evening for a beer.
Sat on the terrace and watched the world walk past.
one beer lead to a couple more.
Lovely.

We were staying in Windermere and were looking for somewhere to have an evening meal. We drove down to Bowness on Windermere and had a look around, but nothing really caught our eye so we were on our way back to our B&B and saw the sign for 2 or 3 course evening meal special for £12.95 or £13.95. We decided it was near enough to walk from our b&b in Windermere so we could have a drink so took the car back to the b&b & walked down.

There was no one in the restaurant when we arrived at probably about 5.30pm but we asked could we have a table & were shown to one by a lovely elderly gentleman who was smartly dressed. He brought us the menus & we ordered drinks. We both decided to have the 3 course meal. We both again chose the vegetable soup followed by chicken & mushroom in white wine sauce. We were served with warm bread rolls which were lovely and fresh and the thick vegetable soup which came swirled with cream, very well presented. The chicken was a chicken breast on top of a large potato with the mushrooms & white wine sauce again lovely presently with a sprig of rosemary in the chicken, and a selection of vegetables served separately. The taste was excellent & quality of food excellent. Service was silver service. The restaurant had started to fill up quite a bit and I believe most were going for the early diner special price deal which was served until 7pm. We were then brought the sweet blackboard to choose from, decisions, decisions! In the end I decided to go for the sticky toffee pudding with cream and my husband went for the white chocolate toblerone cheesecake. Although we had agreed that sample of each others pudding would be in order! The sticky toffee pudding was moist & light and the sauce soaked in and around and over it was gorgeous, not your usual sickly syrupy sauce, it was delicious. I did also try my husband's cheesecake which was fantastic and some lovely presented with a fresh berries sauce just o the side.

All this for £13.95! What more can you ask for! Lovely people, I think family run. It just shows when a chef cares about cooking!

Was invited to a special birthday at this restaurant and we were all deeply disappointed the way the evening turned out . The delays due to staff shortage and general overbooking on a saturday night when the management new they had a booking for 33 people was appalling .It was to be 7-30 for 8 but it was nearly 9 when we went up to the Function room which was still being prepared .We had our starter served shortly after wards and then had to wait nearly an hour for the main course ( this was a meal that had been pre -ordered so most prep should be done) then to make matters worse they only brought two thirds of the meals out our table had to wait a further 20 minutes for our meals to arrive about 10-30 and we still hadn't had our puddings so by the end of this marathon meal at about 11-30 we were all exhausted and fed up.
This is not what i expect when i go to a special birthday do and the lady whose birthday celebration it was is still very upset that her special day which she had planned in advance had not been planned properly by the Beresfords management .
