“Lovely tapas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

Lots of choices, we had a sharing starter was a bit disappointing and had to tell them they had missed mozarella off and could we have some oil & vinegar, Mojitos were great ! Really lively atmosphere, friendly staff.

“The food is god awful, the bar is our favourite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

Being local, we wouldn't eat here if someone paid for us!.
The staff are friendly, during peak season, weekends this place is very very full.
It is very popular among the locals for drinks after work and overall, has a very good list of cocktails - the "death by chocolate" and the Mojitos are especially nice.
It has a late license and is open till midnight which is great - and has a taxi rank just outside!.
Good list of wines, beers and shots (they have a tequila rose!?)
Very warm interior that makes you feel welcome.
Open for coffees in the afternoon too
Has a few tables outside in the summer months.

“Authentic Spanish Tapas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

I am very keen on spanish tapas and even cook it my self on regular occasions. I live in newcastle and have often been to La Tasca in newcastle, york and edinburgh. I have to say i was impressed with the food at bodega, as it seemed more like a typical spaniards cooking as aposed to La Tascas which is more professional chain cooking. The food was served very quickly allthough i didn't like the atmosphere very much as the music wasn't very loud and the waiter kept wanering past and watching. Would definately visit agian though if i was in the area.

“Awful Tapas!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

We visited Lake Windermere and came across this Tapas Bar on a very wet day and thought it looked nice and inviting with the log fire effect burner on the wall. We were even more excited to try the tapas style food as the staff behind the bar spoke fluent Spanish - so we thought we were in for a real Spanish treat. How wrong can you be the food was terrible - we had calamari which obviously came straight from the freezer as it was extremely chewy, potatoes bravados which tasted like it had a jar sauce thrown over it - very poor and chorizo with chick peas which was badly fried chorizo with cold chick peas. The paella was totally tasteless and had strange chunks of white/grey fish - in a nutshell it was the worst tapas we had ever had at a cost of £50 - we would not recommend this place to anyone!
