“very poor food”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

we booked a table for 12 people on Saturday, and decided to order the tapa's banquet for 4, what a massive mistake as two of the tapas meals were burnt, the food was presented for 2 people so we have to divide the food on the table, they brought 2 chicken skewers out with 3 pieces of chicken on each skewer, how do you divide this up between 4 people,

The menu is not thought out, and the quality was less than poor,

Would never return to this restaurant, and will never recommend this to anyone

Went to this place a few years ago and loved it so much we decided to give it another try - what a mistake.

Lovely ambiance and great for a drink of two but the food was dire. I'm sure if I listened hard enough I could hear the microwave pinging as the food was lukewarm, lacklustre and fairly bland. You would think they would train the staff to check if the food was hot before they served it - how hard can it be?

Could have been that it was a Monday night but I won't be going back in a hurry, unless its for the wine or great range of beers.

“Wouldn't recommend”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

My friend and I stopped here for food one Monday night in September. There were only a few other people in so we requested a bigger table, pointing to a table clearly set for 4, so that we could space out. The waiter said that we couldn't have it in case any bigger parties came in. There was actually still plenty of room - including a second eating area that had absolutely nobody in it. They were hardly busy!

I found the waiter quite complacent and if we hadn't have been quite as starving as we were, we would definitely have left. Tapas is our favourite - so we decided to bite our tongue and just try and enjoy ourselves and our mid-week break.

The waiters seemed more pre-occupied at looking at the attractive younger ladies who were dining than serving people. We've all been young...but that shouldn't affect service!

We ordered lots of dishes - and everything was served within literally minutes! Yes we were starving...but it almost felt as if things were just sat on the side ready and quickly warmed up in the microwave. The food was not even particularly hot nor tasteful when it arrived. We were very disappointed to say the least. We ate it as we were hungry.

To make things worse, we felt quite rushed and our plates were whipped away as we finished eating. We were asked politely if we wanted deserts or coffee; but when we declined the bill promptly arrived. It was only about 8.30pm at this point and we must have been inside for all of 30 minutes!

I thought the bill was expensive considering the amount we had eaten and drank in our short visit. Atmosphere was zero sadly.

The hotel where we stayed had recommended this place, but I personally would not recommend anyone to eat here. I, for one, would never return.

The bar downstairs looked nice and was quite busy when we left.

“Fabulous Cocktails”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

We only came here for cocktails at night time but they were undoubtedly the best cocktails in Bowness-on-Windermere. Although the barmen took a while to make them, they were very well made and worth the wait. We came back here every night to have one or two after our meal.
