Got a table straight away but after 10 minutes we were still waiting for someone to take our drink order. Ended up walking out which is a shame because it has a great atmosphere. Could just do with more staff.

We ate here on a whim over the recent Bank Holiday. The menu was fairly extensive with tasty sounding dishes but was still pretty 'run of the mill' tapas. As we had plenty of time and wanted a chilled out meal, we didn't order loads of dishes to start with - we prefer when eating tapas to just have a couple of things at a time. Although fairy busy, the service was good and the very friendly waiting staff did bob back quite frequently to see if we wanted to order more. Everything ordered was as described and tasty except for the chilled seafood which was very disappointing; four of the ingredients listed on the menu as being in the dish were missing with crab sticks being added as a 'surprise' (and unwanted) ingredient. As a great lover of good seafood, this was really not acceptable. We therefore left the dish to one side and mentioned it to one of the waiting staff. It was straightaway accepted that the dish was not as described on the menu and we were told immediately that we wouldn't be charged for it - that was really appreciated as there is nothing worse than having to go into long discussions to get a refund!! We did point out that perhaps the menu should either be amended or the dish should be provided as described in future! We ended our meal with two gorgeous (non Spanish) puddings that were delicious. All in all it was an average eating experience. We would most likely eat there again if we were particularly in the mood for tapas in Bowness.

I should have realised we were in for a poor experience when we arrived and were "welcomed" with a waiter carrying a refuse bin through the restaurant.

15 minutes wait to attract a waiters attention to get served with a drink and 30 mins to get a beer. I was tempted to leave.

20 mins after ordering our tapas, had two visits to our table to say what we'd ordered was unavailable - an omelette and monkfish dish - so we had to order again.

At the end, they forgot to bring the bill, despite 2 requests then the card machine was broken.

To keep us entertained, all during the meal, staff kept pushing past our table to obtain ingredients from a storeroom next to our table - although evidently no eggs or monkfish in there!

Fawlty Towers rings a bell.

The food we got was OK, but the apathy and appaling service is what we'll remember.

We returned again this week after enjoying it so much last week. We ordered a completely different set of dishes which were as lovely as e ones we had last time. The service was excellent, really friendly staff, food came quickly and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere.
After eating we spent the rest of the evening in the bar downstairs. This is a real treat. So many unusual world beers and lagers to sample we didn't know where to start. The owner, Steve was delightful and it is clear that this is a well loved family business.
If we lived in Bowness this would be our bar of choice.

Food served was nice and warm, and there was plenty to choose from - there just wasn't anything special about their menu though. Their pricing was quite steep compared to the quantities being offered.
