From the reviews i read from tripadvisor i could see that i was nt doing a mistake in booking a cottage at the Windermere Marina Village. from day one when i sent an email with all the details of my visit i had a fast and friendly reply..The day arrived and i was very keen in seeing the place though we arrived very late at night as soon as we opened the door i fell in love with the place... A lovely spotless clean and very modern cottage with a wonderful relaxing view of the windermere lakes.... the only disappointment was that we only had 3 days in there.. i recomand everyone whos willing to visit Windermere in going there for a relaxing holiday in the lake.. would go there again for sure some day :)

We arrived on 30th December ready to celebrate the New Year in Windermere with the family.
The beauty of being able to access the very comfortable Old England Spa - gym and pool for free was an attraction worth savouring plus I took advantage of the time to purchase two Elemis Salon massages which chilled me out no end.

The cottage which had the kitchen and lounge upstairs overlooking the lake was very roomy but the bedrooms downstairs were a little cold during the day if you popped down to change. We were right at the end of the block, cottage 28, near to the restaurant and bar and this was a boon especially with the weather on New Year's Eve being so fierce, and with children.

The kitchen was nicely fitted out but with only one t towel for six - seemed a bit mean. The same with toilet rolls although I am sure we could have asked for a top up. the laundry system is a bit antiquated and expensive so bring your own powder or liquid. Also there is no drying cabinet which we are used to in other Lakeland accommodation i.e. Langdale. Overall a very enjoyable holiday and I would return without hesitation - expensive but worth every penny!

Room Tip: Our Cottage No. 28 was quite large and suited our family being next to the restaurant and bar. Also...

My family stayed here for a week in August and we were all very impressed with the place. Their lodge was large, clean and well appointed and the staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful.

The accommodation complex is arranged in a huge circle around the moorings, so all the units have a spectacular view. The weather was especially fine during our week and it was relaxing just to sit on the lodge's balcony and watch the world go by.

The spacious rooms were bright and comfortably furnished. The kitchen and bathrooms, modern and well-equipped and all-in-all you were made to feel very much at home.

Good parking was provided right outside and there were ample, additional spaces for visitors.

The onsite clubhouse has a very good restaurant (reviewed separately) and the village is just a short walk from Bowness Pier and shops.

The Marina is in a lovely location. We stayed the first week in December for four days. We only really had two problems. Firstly we were give the wrong type of Cottage (smaller than what we had booked). When we reported this we were promptly offered alternative accommodation, as we were there in low season this was not a problem however if it had been high season they may not have been able to fix the issue. I would recommend when checking in that you get the correctly named accommodation. Our only other problem were the squeaky floorboard upstairs this meant it was impossible to sleep if anyone was already up and about.

The accommodation was immaculate and warm. We did not do a lot of cooking but we could see that the kitchen was extremely well equipped and the standard of the units and worktop were outstanding.

The Boathouse restaurant attached to the Marina was a great place to eat and the staff were extremely efficient and friendly. Further afield is Bowness-on- Windermere which is just over a mile away although the route there is unlit we were well prepared with head torches - worth the walk if you do not want to take the car. Lots of dog friendly pubs there with the Angel Inn being the best - the steak sandwiches are amazing.

We will definitely go back when the weather is better so we can make use of the balcony with the beautiful views across the Marina.

We have been coming here for many years and have seen the changes that have taken place. What we like the most about Windermere Marina Village is the location being close to Bowness and never far from anywhere, as well as being an ideal base to explore the Lake District.

We recently stayed in Cottage 21 (one of the Hawkshead cottages) for the first time since the refurbishment post-2009 floods. The beds are comfortable and heaters fully working, just what's needed at this time of the year. The lounge is spacious and comfortable, and the recently-installed 42" HD TV and Blu-Ray player is just what's needed for a room of that size. Hopefully WMV will roll this out across all the cottages. The only criticism of this cottage is that the Wi-Fi signal was very intermittent, but it wasn't a major issue as I had 3G signal on my mobile.

As WMV no longer has the Spinnaker Club, we made use of the leisure facilities at the Old England Hotel in Bowness. The pool/sauna/steam room areas are very nice and the gym was fine, if lacking the usual wide range of equipment you would typically find in a members-only gym. WMV guests also get a 20% discount on the spa treatments.

The Boathouse is a recent addition to WMV and is a nice place to either have a meal or a quiet drink. I can imagine the outdoor terrace is very popular in the summer months!

The stay here was excellent as usual and this was made even better with the dry weather during our stay. We will continue to use WMV for future stays in the Lakes where possible and I fully recommend this for anyone wanting luxury accommodation in the Bowness/South Lakes area.

Room Tip: Hawkshead Cottages (e.g. 21) contain 42" HD TV and Blu-Ray Player. Ambleside and Bowness Cottag...

We stayed here recently with our two young children. The accommodation was of a fantastic standard, as were all the additional things we had requested such as a high chair, travel cot and stair gates. The service was second to none and nothing was too much trouble.
It was beautifully furnished and well designed with lots of space, luxury!
One of the best things about this accommodation is the location. Just a short walk into Bowness and Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere are all within a short drive. There are so many things to see, do and visit within such a short distance for all ages.
We didn't need need to use the facilities at the Old England hotel but I'm sure this would be a welcome option if the weather was bad.
We will definitely be going back to the Windermere Marina village to visit such a beautiful place.

Spent a week in Rusland 7 - just along from reception. Very clean, well appointed spacious accommodation over two floors. Fab view of marina from the balcony. Spacious two bed, two bathroom and additional pull down bed in the lounge. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Papers delivered daily. Nice walk into Bowness. Enjoyed the pool in the Old England hotel in Bowness. Lots of great walks locally. Great - hope to return soon.
