Loved the food here, steak and venison dish were well seasoned, tasty and good portion size. Staff were friendly and acccomodating. Best part was the lemon dessert with a caramel top - delicious and highly recommended!!

We wandered down to Fat Olives after looking through their menu at our B&B and thinking oo that sounds nice. We weren't disappointed. The mains are well thought out balanced dishes that are presented beautifully. The flavours are fresh and very tasty, making use of seasonal produce. They also have a very good wine list!

Having looked on its website, we were looking forward to a meal in Fat Olives as part of a short break in the Lakes. We were not disappointed. The food was very good, the menu isn't overly elaborate and there is not a huge choice but you don't really need that! What is on the menu is of a good quality, the whitebait with aoli special starter in particular was brilliant. The cheese board was sooooooo good, with more than enough for two people to share. The staff were friendly and very knowlegable about the menu.

The only downside was that the Black Sheep real ale was served cold, straight from the fridge. My boyfriend, as a real ale afficionado, was not amused!

Read some reviews about a grumpy waitress, well we did not meet her! The staff were all really nice right down to the chefs who wished us a good night from the kitchen as we left. Some excellent specials, nice size portions and everything cooked spot on and tasting great. Could have gone back 5 days running and still wanted to try something else. We will be back.

Tried Fat Olives on our last night in Bowness, following several nights stay. None of the restaurants we had tried had been that great to be honest so we were hoping Fat Olives would bring back our enthusiasm. The food was good, but oh my goodness what was wrong with the waitress? She is undermining the hard work going on in the kitchen. She could barely speak to us, and never offered even a hint of a smile. No thank yous either.
If they are any way interested in some feedback, I'd ask the female waitress to work behind the bar and get the guy behind the bar to serve the customers. He at least looked like he wanted to be there. Anyway in terms of a review, the food is good and worth trying, but don't expect great service. Shame really.....
