“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

We went to Olives last night on our first night staying in the Windermere area. A look at the menu outside showed a good range of unusual specials far from your pub grub deep fried meals offered elsewhere. We started with a shared rustic bread platter with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - large enough to be shared between the 3 of us and could plesantly stretched to 4.
This was followed by 3 mains off the specials - 2 savoury pumpkin pies with garlic and sage roast potatoes and a sea bass with watercress pesto and crushed potatoes. The veggie meals were to die for, filling warming and really unusual. The fish was cooked to perfection as was the accompanying veg (carrots courgettes and mange toute). Would have loved to sample the desserts but was so full after two courses it would have been impossible.
Spent just over fifty pounds all in for meals and drinks which included a glass of wine.
Lovely atmosphere and would go back again anytime.

“Good value, nice staff, warm ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

We went in here for a mid-week evening meal, without reserving a table, and we both had the good-value 2 / 3 course fixed-price menus. Both were lovely, and the starters were of a good size: but we didn't have room to have the 3 courses on offer and so had to settle on the 2. The brasserie has a nice atmosphere and is attractively decorated.

“Great value”

Superior menu selection but with a casual feel. Very nice meal, we were most impressed with both the food and wine.

We had a meal here one night without making a booking; lovely staff and good value for money. The food was very tasty but not quite hot enough but the staff soon sorted this out.
