“a fantastic b&b!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

We came here as we got a very good deal on booking.com and we were not disappointed! The owners were lovely and gave lots if recommendations for different places to visit, eat and drink.
Breakfast was included in the price and was very nice with a good amount of choice. The rooms were very homely and extremely comfortable and very clean with a daily service. Bathroom was fantastic, very modern, clean and high spec. They took care of the little things like room decor and ensuring g tea/coffee was replenished every day!
We will be returning here!

Relaxing break, lovely and cosy. Relaxing lounge area with honesty bar. Room 6 fairly small but cosy and lovely decor. Short walk into the centre of Bowness, slight steep hill on our return. Friendly and Homely.

Stayed at the Westbourne for one night only. Was very impressed with everything. Friendly and helpful hosts. Lovely comfortable room - spotlessly clean. Nice touches such as honesty bar. Great location - quiet cul-de-sac but only a stones throw from Windermere centre.Would definitely stay again and just wish we could have had a longer stay there.

This is our second time in Bowness, first time at the Westbourne! There is a good sized car park which is quite hard to come by at some B&Bs in Bowness. Plenty of space for all everyone.
The Westbourne is located on a quiet street just off the Main Street into Bowness, takes about 5mins to walk down to the Lake. It is walking distance to Windermere too so is a perfect base for getting around.
Our room was lovely, we had a compact double so as the name suggests was quite a small room but it was lovely and well presented. The whole of the Westbourne was clean and really nicely decorated and homely. The owners were really helpful and friendly too! There is also a great little welcome book in your room which has lots of suggestions of great places to eat! We ate at Hyltons, Robertos, Hole int Wall and Village inn and had great food at all of them.
Breakfast was fab too, full English with eggs done how you want. Also a good selection of cereals, fruit and yogurts. Great quality bacon and sausages! Really tasty!
Would definitely recommend this B&B!

We were in Bowness to visit family and chose to stay at the Westbourne due to location, price and the fact that there is a car park which is a big bonus in this area. It is a lovely old stone house a few minutes walk from the centre of Bowness. We felt we couldn't have made a better choice.

Andre and Sue the owners are lovely helpful people who are very friendly without being intrusive. They are more than happy to give information on places to go or to make recommendations. I have recently undergone major surgery and due to this am limited with walking, especially uphill. I wanted to know if there was an accessible waterfall I could have a wander to and Sue came up with a suggestion that was perfect.

We were in room no 3 and what a lovely room. It has a four poster bed, plenty of hanging space and drawers and a chaise lounge that we fought over - I won most of the time! There was also a flat screen tv with digital channels and iPod dock. The bathroom was spacious and there was a selection of toiletries to use. There was also a hospitality tray with a good selection of teas, coffee and chocolate to choose from and also biscuits. They offer free wifi with the code to access it being at the back of the guest information folder in the bedroom. I know others have said about a weak signal, but we had a good signal everytime we used it.

The thing I dread most when going away is the bed due to joint problems, but this one was lovely. It was king size and had a memory foam mattress which I have not slept on before, but after 2 nights I was a convert. It helped that the duvet was the most squashy thing I have ever encountered and pillows very comfortable too. There were also plenty of cushions on the bed for night time reading.

There is a residents lounge with information on the area, a selection of games and also a honesty bar if you need any drinks.

Breakfast was very good with a choice of fresh fruit, juice, yoghurts and cereals, then options for a cooked breakfast. We were there five nights in all and my partner (being a creature of habit) had the full english each day, but I had a few variations on it and it all was good quality, very well cooked and piping hot.

All in all we had a lovely stay. I highly recommend this B&B, it offers high quality at very good prices and when next in the area (June hopefully) we will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Room no 3 is lovely. It is classed as a large double which we paid a little more for, but was well w...

Well located off the main road so nice and quiet but close enough to walk around the town easily. Parking never a problem. Staff were friendly from moment we arrived and really made you feel welcome, giving tips on where to go and how to get there. Great selection of board games plus an honesty bar which we appreciated in the evenings. The cooked breakfasts were great too. Room 4 was small but cosy and had everything we needed. Very comfy bed. Would definitely recommend it.
