We were in Bowness to visit family and chose to stay at the Westbourne due to location, price and the fact that there is a car park which is a big bonus in this area. It is a lovely old stone house a few minutes walk from the centre of Bowness. We felt we couldn't have made a better choice.

Andre and Sue the owners are lovely helpful people who are very friendly without being intrusive. They are more than happy to give information on places to go or to make recommendations. I have recently undergone major surgery and due to this am limited with walking, especially uphill. I wanted to know if there was an accessible waterfall I could have a wander to and Sue came up with a suggestion that was perfect.

We were in room no 3 and what a lovely room. It has a four poster bed, plenty of hanging space and drawers and a chaise lounge that we fought over - I won most of the time! There was also a flat screen tv with digital channels and iPod dock. The bathroom was spacious and there was a selection of toiletries to use. There was also a hospitality tray with a good selection of teas, coffee and chocolate to choose from and also biscuits. They offer free wifi with the code to access it being at the back of the guest information folder in the bedroom. I know others have said about a weak signal, but we had a good signal everytime we used it.

The thing I dread most when going away is the bed due to joint problems, but this one was lovely. It was king size and had a memory foam mattress which I have not slept on before, but after 2 nights I was a convert. It helped that the duvet was the most squashy thing I have ever encountered and pillows very comfortable too. There were also plenty of cushions on the bed for night time reading.

There is a residents lounge with information on the area, a selection of games and also a honesty bar if you need any drinks.

Breakfast was very good with a choice of fresh fruit, juice, yoghurts and cereals, then options for a cooked breakfast. We were there five nights in all and my partner (being a creature of habit) had the full english each day, but I had a few variations on it and it all was good quality, very well cooked and piping hot.

All in all we had a lovely stay. I highly recommend this B&B, it offers high quality at very good prices and when next in the area (June hopefully) we will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Room no 3 is lovely. It is classed as a large double which we paid a little more for, but was well w...

Well located off the main road so nice and quiet but close enough to walk around the town easily. Parking never a problem. Staff were friendly from moment we arrived and really made you feel welcome, giving tips on where to go and how to get there. Great selection of board games plus an honesty bar which we appreciated in the evenings. The cooked breakfasts were great too. Room 4 was small but cosy and had everything we needed. Very comfy bed. Would definitely recommend it.

Just five min walk off main road, but still quiet enough on a side road to have a peaceful nights sleep.

Very warm and welcoming from moment walk through the door. Owners have great knowledge of area, helpful tips on walks, pubs etc.

Room 9 lovely, modern, clean, plenty tea, coffee and fluffy towels ! It's a 3/4 bed so be careful if you are tall !!!. Very private, with own access rejoined to.hotel and lots car parking.

Fabulous breakfast, cooked to order on warm plates. Will cater in advance for dietary reqs. Definitely return.

Nothing to complain about at all. The B&B was well located, clean and the owners were friendly. Honesty bar was great, a nice touch in todays world. Really can have no complaints especially at the price.

We stayed for one night and would certainly go back. The hosts were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was immaculate and nicely decorated. Breakfast was good.
Great postion within easy walking distance of Bowness and only a slightly longer stroll from Windermere. Quiet with private parking.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a larger room and super king bed.

Pleasant hosts, great breakfast, good value price, room was clean - bed comfortable, bathroom newly refurbished & pleasant, though a little small & cramped. The only slightly annoying thing was the free WIFI didn't seem to reach our room, so we were unable to make use of this, though it does work downstairs in the lobby. The owners also had a honesty bar downstairs with drinks available to take at any time, but you just had to leave your name & which items you took to pay later. Overall an excellent stay & would use again, if the WIFI got sorted out to work across the building, then it would be perfect!

We have returned from The Westbourne this evening having had a fantastic weekend.

Where to start......Andre and Sue were fantastic hosts, really lovely people. They were due to pop out when we were arriving so arranged to leave the key out for us and we could check in early. The bedroom was home from home, gorgeous decor, nice white fluffy towels and the radiator was lovely and toastie warm.

The breakfast was to die for, totally delicious. Fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, full english (which we opted for daily) and toast etc..

Free on-site parking is another bonus for this gem of a place and Andre kindly offered us the parking space for the afternoon after check out too.

Nothing is too much trouble and we would absolutely recommend you don't "shop around" and just book - you will not be disappointed.
