What a wonderful find. Tony and Liz have created a really nice B&B with a difference right close to the centre of Bowness. The room had a deep spa bath, and though that is quite common now this one was big enough for two people and set against a window. The bedroom was on the first floor and overlooked the garden. Breakfast great. Can't fault anything really - yes I know there is a short hill to go up, but really it is a small price to pay for such a quite location so close to everything. We felt so relaxed there.

we stayed one night and although expensive, we loved the 4 poster bed, whirlpool bath and the amenities - the extras we paid for (petals, chocolates) were superb. Breakfast was very nice.

For our last night in the lakes we decided to splash out and book something a bit special. We booked Room 2, the "Deluxe" "Relaxation Room" which is "overlooking the garden and has a sleigh bed, a 2-person massage shower and an internally lit, air-spa bath". This cost us £120 for 1 night.
On arrival in the small cramped room, we were greeted with a musty smell as if the room hadn't been aired in days despite the good weather. When we removed the natty bed cover we immediately noticed that the duvet was unwashed with what we assumed were chocolate stains on it. We complained and it was replaced (with one that was stained but at least washed). The room was in a shabby state with the light fitting in the bathroom peeling and several repairs carried out on the room but not finished or repainted. The room itself was dirty with mould in the shower, and dirty bathroom floor and carpet (we were grateful for the complimentary slippers). The doors were also clearly dirty and in need of a wash and a coat of paint. The garden view included a tarpaulin, a trailer and a traffic cone.
In the shower, once I figured out the knack to stop it making a loud banging noise while the massaging heads spat water at random intervals, it became clear that there wasn't enough water pressure to sustain both the massaging jets and the main shower head. Before going out for the evening we were treated to a medley of songs from the shower of the neighbouring room through the paper thin walls.
When we came back at around 9pm we decided that a relaxing air spa bath would be nice. It would have been nice if it hadn't sounded like it was powered by a dozen rusty vacuum cleaners. Conscious of the fact that children may have been trying to sleep in the neighbouring rooms/houses/villages we promptly switched it off and relaxed in the still bath, listening to the television of another neighbouring room.
The breakfast was mostly edible (although I've never tasted fried bread quite so bad) however the dining room was cramped and I had my elbows knocked several times as the waiting staff rushed to and from the kitchen.
On checking out we encountered the owners for the first time. (At least we assume they were the owners as they didn't feel the need to introduce themselves). We were offered a complimentary bottle of wine to apologise for the unwashed duvet. We chose a Sauvignon Blanc. While one of the owners and a staff member went to fetch the bottle the other owner asked me for the full £120 even though we had already paid a £40 deposit. The other owner then returned and confirmed that I had paid a deposit and handed me a bottle of Sauvignon Semillon.

Have just spent four lovely days in the lakes, our 1st visit to this part of the country and definately not the last. We found Fairfields to be homely and relaxing. The breakfasts were excellent and the waitress staff lovely. We had a lovely room overlooking the beautiful garden, which if you are as lucky as we were with the weather is an absolute sun trap. Would definately stay again even prospect of climbing that short but very steep hill does not put us off. (but will you have us back Tony hope you managed to repair the bathroom lock!!! )(sorry)

Myself and my husband stayed at the fairfield for 2 nights with 2 friends,
On arrival, the gentleman who owns the guesthouse was very welcoming and friendly, we immediately felt comfortable.
We booked the standard room for £80 per night. The room itself was very small (our friend's had an even smaller room) and the bathrooms were tiny, however both rooms were clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was fresh and tasty. The location is great. Check-out is 10.30 (which I felt was a little early for a sunday morning).
The only issue we had was the towels. On return to the room, our bed had been made, but our towels had not been renewed, after a whole day of walking the last thing you want after a hot shower is to dry yourself with a wet towel. Later that evening after dinner I asked for some dry towels and they were quickly handed to us (Our friends had the same issue).
Overall we had a very pleasant stay, this is clean comfortable accommodation in a good location and I would consider staying here again.

Bit of a mixed bag this one. Like the curates’ egg – good in parts. You will have noted from its’ web page and other reviews that the emphasis is on luxury. Certainly it isn’t the cheapest B&B in an area that knows its’ worth and how to charge for it. Lets strip down some of the details-

“pets are welcome” This means they are tolerated, so long as you are prepared to be treated as second class.

“superior room” Was the deal we were headed for, except it didn’t happen. Didn’t ask and didn’t find out why. Room we got was barely adequate as a double and short on space.

“drinks on arrival” & “licensed bar” Again the drinks didn’t appear, the bar is a mean looking locked glass wall cupboard, in an unoccupied room.

The breakfast was well cooked and presented.
