myself and my husband stayed at the cranleigh for our second wedding anniversary and it was amazing :) from the second you walk into the door you feel calm and relaxed which was just what we needed, we stayed in a luxury room and it was so nice. The bed was king size and so comfy and the spa bath and rain shower are so great. I loved the giant tv in our room and the selection of free dvds :) .Everything was just a 2 minuite walk away and there is plenty to do in the area. The room was cleaned to perfection while we were out . The breakfast was lovely and the staff were so nice ... can not find a single thing to fault this hotel on :) will deffinatly be coming back soon :)

A one night stay in the Sanctuary wasn't enough to enjoy all this accommodation has to offer! Having stayed extensively throughout the lake district the Cranleigh offers excellent service, standards and accommodation which many struggle to compete with. The Sanctuary suite is a must for anyone looking for the perfect romantic getaway. The care and attention to detail from the team is first class. I cant fault the experience in anyway and will be returning.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We apprecaite your excellent comments on The Sanctuary Suite. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We created the Sanctuary suite to be the ultimate in indulgence and to offer our guests a room that exceeds expectations in everyway. The Santuary is our most popular room for proposals. There has been more than twenty this year alone and so far with a 100% success rate.

Before I begin I must point out that I am an extremely fussy traveller, i'm not awkward but hate spending my hard earned money on places that just aren't worth it. Wishing to find the perfect place to stay I trawled through the hotels in this area and there trip advisor reviews.

I read reviews on the Cranleigh and noted the main downsides, people complaining the rooms are small, overpriced and that the spa is not on site seemed to be the main issues. If you read there website it tells you the spa is not onsite, the prices for rooms are listed and there are pictures of the rooms which show they are not huge.

I cannot fault this place. We arrived and we greeted by Emma on Reception. Emma is a credit to the Cranleigh. The room was lovely, we had room 14 which is located next door to the main building. The room looked just as it does on the website. Breakfast was delicious, served in a lovely dining room by helpful, pleasant staff.

The hotels location is perfect, 2 minutes from everything. There are many lovely places to eat in the evening and I can highly recommend the little Bistro at the bottom of the hill from Cranleigh.

They have a drinks menu which can be ordered and brought to your room. I found these to be reasonably priced, similar to what you would expect to pay in a pub or a restaurant.

I defy anyone to leave Huggie behind! (the adoptable bear)

My only regret about staying at the Cranleigh..............that I did not book one of the suites.....but I will rectify this by going back and staying in one :o)

I hope this review helps you make your decision, if you want cheap and cheerful look elsewhere, if you want pure romantic indulgence book it now.

Fantastic review thank you. Room 14 is one of our most popular rooms. Huggie bear is also very popular. They are so quite and of course adoptable. Hope we see you again soon.

Myself and my husband stayed here for our minimoon after getting married in Scotland on 18 Feb.

The hotel more than exceeded our expectations and we loved the different quirks like the mood lighting, the tv in the bath, the super king sized bed....that you dont get in your average hotel! We also LOVED the dvd library and spent a lot of time watching films in our room at leisure!

We could see Lake Winderemere out of our window and it was beautiful and the town is also beautiful with some great places to eat.

I would highly recommend this place to anybody - it is well worth paying that little bit extra! Needless to say, my husband and I will be back next February to celebrate our one year anniversary!!

Thank you Richard and Louise for choosing the Cranleigh for your minimoon and congratulations. The Cranleigh is a very popular choice for minimoon's and for proposals. The Sanctuary suite is the most popular for proposals. We look forward to welcoming you back next year.

My wife and I recently stayed at The Cranleigh hotel in Bowness in the Lake District. We were extremely impressed with the high quality of customer service and the helpfulness we received from all of the staff (from the receptionists to the kitchen and waiting staff and the maids).

Our room was perfect, it had everything we needed and more, it really lived up to its reputation of 'exceeding expectations'. The facilities were great, from the Jacuzzi bath to the TV (in both the bedroom and the bathroom!) to the DVD library which you can just ring up reception and order from their extensive list of titles and they bring them straight to you within minutes. Plus the breakfasts are great, so much choice and the staff cook the food to order so it is always nice and fresh and you are always asked if you would like anything else!!

There was nothing we would have changed about our two night stay and we would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a luxurious and stress free stay in the Lake District. The only thing we weren't aware of prior to our visit was the fact that the spa on the website isn't actually attached to the Cranleigh hotel, it is in a completely separate hotel about a 2 minute walk away (a MacDonald hotel). However, it must be pointed out that this wasn't actually a problem and it really didn't make a difference to our stay as it was actually quite nice the spa was in a separate building as it made us go out of the hotel and see what else was around.

We really want to return to the Lake District again in the future and we will not be staying anywhere else!!!!
