Okay here goes....... Originally I wanted to book the Sanctuary but it was booked for the period of our 'mini moon' so the new wife and I decided to go for a 2 night stay in the Hideout..... wow !! What a fantastic apartment, immaculate throughout and everything was 5 star....... until the point we decided to have a shower ready to go out for Dinner...... the shower head fell apart and the shower was un-useable, (the small screw had become corroded and broke away from the casing) after a quick call to reception to explain the problem we were absolutely overwhelmed with the customer support that followed....as a token of this very slight inconvienience we were offered our second night in the Sanctuary as there had been a cancelation.....wow !!! hot tub !!! but it didn't end there..... we were also given a free bottle of champaigne worth £34 and a free breakfast on our last morning..... This is without doubt the best service I have ever received from a Hotel / Guesthouse, all the above are the reasons we will return and all our friends are keen to visit too. This place is just beautiful the staff were outstanding.... what a company !!! Thankyou to all the staff. Jay & Jenny.

Room Tip: If you can book 'The Sanctuary'..... awesome.

Just had a mid week 2 night stay for our 10yr anniversary away from the stress of our own business, it was perfect very relaxing and informal but with all the attention in all the right places. The staff were extremely helpful , breakfast amazing and the use of spa facilities was the icing on the cake. Stayed in room 14 and it was amazing. Hotel is close to all amenities in Bowness so you can just walk, had a wonderful stay, hope to return soon. Thanks to all the staff.

Room Tip: Room 14 was very quiet.

We stayed in room 9 the bedroom is cute, the bathroom is amazing , tv in bath great idea, Manager was amazing couldn't have helped us more.

Only down point , clocks at pre day light saving so we got up an hour early, but guess that was ok.

Beds great, tv massive, dvds good, breakfast cold buffet could have been bit more exciting, shower a little weak but now im really being picky, loved the open fire, loved the location, parking great, all in all - GREAT

Room Tip: Jacksons down the road is great, staff little abrupt but food great.

We won our night at The Cranleigh in a competition. It was perfectly timed as my husband had just returned from a 4-month tour in Afghanistan. After learning that we had won, I contacted the Cranleigh to making the booking and from that very first call their customer service was impeccable.

On arrival at the hotel, the lady on reception was welcoming and informative, personally showing us to our room and even offering to help with the bags. We stayed in room 9, decorated in neutral tones and with high quality fixtures and fittings. The bathroom had a spa bath, a TV and a separate shower cubicle with a rainfall shower head, all of which added to the feeling of quality and helped ensure a relaxing stay.

The hotel's restaurant only opens for breakfast but this is not a problem as the hotel is extremely close to many restaurants. The lady on reception (I cannot call her a receptionist as she was far more than that) recommended several restaurants when asked and we went to one of her recommendations, Jackson's Bistro, a two minute walk away. She was right, the food was excellent. When we returned, the bed had been turned down and there was a chocolate for each of us on the bed, a really nice touch.

After an extremely comfortable night, we were warmly welcomed in the dining room for breakfast. We both had the Cranleigh cooked breakfast which was beautifully cooked and presented; it included sausages, black pudding and bacon, all of which were of good quality.

The worst part of our trip was having to leave! We will definitely be returning in the future and would highly recommend the Cranleigh to anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay in a friendly boutique hotel. It is especially good for those looking to escape from the children for a little while and have some quality adult time!

I've just been with my wife for our first anniversary. We really like this place, we have been once before. It's clean, traditional but modern and has a nice atmosphere. It's nice to just sit and read the paper with a glass of wine by the fire. The place is good value, we had a standard room which was fine. Would go again definitely. The breakfast is nice but I'm not sure about those bean jars!
