“Premier Inn saved the day.”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

Whilst spending an appalling Friday night at a near by "hotel" we called the Premier Inn to book the Saturday night with them. The young man on the phone could not be more helpful. Was very impressed considering it was gone midnight when we phoned. All of the staff we met at reception were efficient and friendly. As with other Premier Inn's we've stayed at it appears that the company train their staff to really care about their guests. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The only down fall was that it was a little on the cold side when we entered. We were equally impressed with the Tye Barns next door. Having visited several times before with family, it did not disappoint. I'm surprised at the complaint about the restaurant. At all you can eat/drink for £10 head you are hardly going to get a fine dining experience. However, the food is good! And the staff are fantastic, always friendly and polite even when it is busy. On arrival for dinner we were warned that it may be a 30 minute wait (to be expected on a weekend at 7pm) however, we were shown to our table within 5 minutes. The breakfast service was always great, the standard premier inn breakfast was varied and tasty and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My husband had some fresh poached eggs made for him which was perfectly cooked. Yes, the premier Inn may not be the most glamorous place to stay but they are excellent value for money and at least you are guaranteed to get a clean, comfy room for the night.

Have used this hotel a number of times and each time it has been a very pleasant stay, very quite at night and get a good night sleep. Staff are always friendly and ready to help if necessary. The location for us is very good, but may not be for everyone.

The Premier Inn at Chesterton is a large modern building, the room was spotless as was the bathroom which we have come to expect from this chain. Comfortable bed, pillows etc. We were however disappointed with the Taybarns restaurant, we have not come across this before, we booked a table for 7pm as advised at reception, went to the bar for a pre dinner drink and found nowhere to sit, we then had to queue up for quite a while to pay in advance for our meal before we could go to a table to sit down. The food was all buffet style with different sections for various types, most looked as if it had been waiting for a while, and the choices we made were not very hot, you can go back to eat as much as you want, but it did not really invite a return. In the morning the same arrangement operated, we had the Continental option, fruit and cereals were fine but only bread or croissants on offer as they had run out of muffins and crumpets. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and couldn't fault the accommodation. If we need to chose a premier inn on a journey, we will avoid one with a Taybarn restaurant.

Have stayed here several times in the pasr but not for about a year. My expectations were same as last time but...the beds have undergone an upgrade since my last visit. Gone are the rock hard honeycombe sprung mattresses that make your hips and rip cage sore and in are Hypnos soft sprung mattresses with plush toppers. I have never had a more comfortable sleep in a Premier Inn than this. The usual issues of kids hurtln

Friendly and attentive staff. Good parking. Spacious and comfortable room. Great bed and a good night's sleep. Very much for car users as there's nothing to walk to around there. One minor gripe is the breakfast where you can have as much as you can eat for 7 quid or a croissant and coffee. An in-between option e.g. toast and jam didn't seem to be available at the neighbouring Tay Barns
