“Clean and friendly”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights on a trip to Alton Towers, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and couldn't be faulted. The room was big and very clean although it was quite hot and the windows didn't open very far to let a breeze in, but the hotel did provide a fan in the room which helped a lot. Beds really comfortable and the black out curtains ideal! Late check out at 12pm was brilliant too. Breakfast was nice and great value for money, would stay again.

Nothing unusual about the hotel. Clean, friendly and purple and on three floors. Really hot day but fan in the room so all good. Then there is the restaurant called Taybarns, where there are seven food stations containing about 100 dishes including Asian, Italian and English. Before 6pm you can eat all you can take for under £6. I arrived about 7pm and it was £8. The place was packed with families and children so not the place to relax after a hard day but I closed my mind to the noise and the food was not bad at all

Room Tip: The back is quieter

Stayed on Tuesday night, was made to feel very welcome. Receptionist on arrival was very genuine, and heard her on phone to a customer and she was best and most professional receptionist I have ever had in any hotel. Bar staff helpful and accommodating and would recommend to any traveller to the area. Great sleep, breakfast fresh, presented well and left feeling refreshed and it was all thanks to staff.

Used this premier as a 'half wa' stop over on-route to Harry Potter studios.
Well what can I say...does what it says on the can...Reception was clean and tidy with a very friendly receptionist. Rooms are clean and tidy with ample room for 2 adults and 2 kids. There was only 2 concerns...! was the heat in the room which was very warm and where the small bed was positioned was right next to the radiator only for 1 of the boys to lean the pillow against it then only for a burning smell to start..maybe think about position of beds or radiators. It is very quiet for a Premier as its off the road and we weren't woken by the usually slamming of doors.
Breakfast in the restaurant next door was more than adequate which a wide varied chose of continental and traditional breakfast items.
Can highly recommend this hotel on all levels especially as my husband left his toiletry bag only for us to be phoned to inform us and they kept it aside to collection on our return journey. We have left many items in hotels and have never been called ..so 5* for customer service

Reception staff were very polite and helpful. Found the hotel to be further away from the centre of Newastle & Stoke than we had originally thought but still very handy to get across to Alton Towers which was the reason for choseing the hotel. Would be handy for the hotel to have interconnecting rooms for families especially as they offer Alton Towers packages that appeal to families with children.

The hotel is in decent enough condition, but the staff are all exceptional in my experience. Big thanks to Amy the receptionist who went out of her way to assist in a refund for me (because I'd booked a room on the wrong night by accident). Little things like this are appreciated, and its not always the service you get at other Premier Inns.

My sister and I used this premier inn for a two night stay on 2/3 June 2013. We spent two days at Alton towers and this hotel was in a good location, only about 40 mins drive away from the theme park. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly/helpful. We had a twin room and this was the normal 'large' bed with a single where the sofa normally is. I slept on the single and it was a lot more comfy that the rock hard large bed my sister had. The room and bathroom were nice and clean, but smelt of stale cigarette smoke when you walked in. Being a non smoking room this surprised me. Also, the rooms have no air con and only a small tower fan, so it remained about 25 degrees all the time, even with the window open. It was dreadfully hot and did really effect out sleep. We were facing the road as well, so from about 5am it was very noisy with traffic roaring by. The shower water pressure was truly dreadful - more like a trickle than a shower and it took ages just to wash your hair. The shower head was fixed to the wall and so washing your private areas was difficult and requires quite a degree of flexibility. Other than that, the rooms were very pleasant and well equipped.

There was a taybarns Buffett restaurant attached to the hotel and that was amazing! We had both breakfast and dinner there and the choice was fantastic. It caters for everyone with a choice of most things you can imagine. I ate far more than I normally would so be warned! We really need this restaurant chain down south. Breakfast was booked with the premier inn and at £29 a night for the hotel with £8 something each for breakfast it was a bargain! Book early to get great rates. They also gave us one night free due to the heat a noise. I would stay here again, but next time we will go in either April or September - so the hotel is cooler and the park is not so busy. At 3 hours plus for some rides we got hardly any done, but the hotel makes a great base and is less than half the price of staying on site.
