“A nice hotel in a decent location.”
Reviewed November 7, 2011

I stay at this premier inn now and then and only had 1 time when i didnt get a good sleep, this was dealt with and the night was free as a result, Stayed on Friday Nov 4th most recently. Had a decent night though the mattresses are starting to show their age/state of wear now and could do with replacing as they are becoming lumpy and the springs are starting to push through a bit compared to other premier inns i stay in. I think that the rate we got this time was good as it was £29 for 3 of us, so no complaints on that front. Access to this Inn can be a bind as the dual carriageway it is on has no gap to allow an exit to/entry from the opposite lane. This means that you have to go all the way up or down to the nearest round a bout to get in/out. Food is decent here as it is attached to a Taybarns and there is a good bar ( if a bit overpriced - £2.20 for a 250ml glass of coke! Even with free refills you can still get a 500ml bottle from the machine in the hotel for £1.40! do the Maths!). its handy for us as we have family in the area, so its makes a good stop over. If you want a better location with a more modern feel then Trentham Gardens Premier Inn is nicer, but that is reflected in the lack of offers and the difficulty booking a room there!

Room Tip: Ask to be facing the rear to avoid noise from the carpark out front and avoid rooms next to the main...

We stayed here for one night in October on our way to Alton Towers, after a long drive it was a clean and comfortable room to stay for a very very good price - can't go wrong for the quality at that price. The room was spotless and bed comfortable, hotel was very quiet.
We were tired so had tea at Taybarns where we've been before in our own local area and it was decent food at a great price as usual. Breakfast the next morning was the usual good Premier Inn quality and quantity and just what we needed to set us up for a long day ahead! Would recommend to stay here if you are wanting to put your head down for the night for a very reasonable price.

This was our first time staying in this Premier inn whilst visiting alton towers, and i would stay here again. Its only half hours drive to the theme park which is easy to find. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, we were travelling with 2 teenagers and the room we had was big enough for us.We had breakfast which was superb value for money costing only £16 for the 4 of us (children 15 and under eat free). There is a good selection of cereals, fruit and yogurts as well as cooked breakfast items (sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms) bread, toast, croissants, crumpets, muffins, various fruit juices and tea and coffee so there's something for everyone, and you can eat as much as you like. Would definatley recommend Premier inn to anyone who likes clean, comfortable and value for money hotels.

Arrived on a Saturday night. Good friendly reception staff who dealt with our checking in very quickly (travelling as a group of 6).

Rooms very well laid out and VERY clean. Plenty of towels, shelves and Twinings Tea :o) Always my favourite.

Our room faced towards the rear of the hotel and was very quiet. Plenty of parking available.

Restaurant attached was a buffet style and I don't think that I have ever seen so much food nor eaten so much! Ranged from salads, BBQ'd sausages and burgers, fish, curry, chinese, carvery, pizza, pasta, choice of around 7 different deserts! We had to wait 30 minutes for a table.

Breakfast in the morning also buffet style. Everything freshly cooked and very enjoyable.

Around 30 minutes from Alton Towers (our intended destination).

I would happily stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel as it was nearest to family in area and we were going to a christening. The hotel was nice and clean and all the staff were very friendly. Our first night there and the hotel was completely full. I was still awake at 3am as the mattress was old and sagging and I could feel springs digging into me, also the people upstairs were having a party! I went to reception to complain and was told there was nothing they could do at that time about the mattress as they had no spares but they did give me extra pillows and quilts to put on top of the mattress. The man on reception also went to tell the people upstairs to be quiet.
In the morning I found out I was not the only person to complain about the noise and we all got given a full refund for the nights stay. The reception staff offered for me to move rooms, but as the people from upstairs had checked out and we were rushing to go to the christening, I opted for them to change our mattress which was then fine.
The second night, expecting a brilliant sleep on the new mattress, was upset to keep getting woken up by the NEW people upstairs, I could hear them walking across the room, having a wee and flushing the toilet. They werent particularly noisy but the rooms are so badly insulated that I could hear everything!
Complained again the next morning to be told that I should have moved rooms, I said I thought it would be ok as the party people checked out, had not realised that new people had checked in, reluctantly a full refund for the second night was given.
The morale of this tale? I will NEVER stay at this hotel again even though it is close to our family, we have stayed at trentham gardens before and had no problems at all, only that it is the other side of town from our family, but definately worth the extra travel.
DO NOT stay here if you want to sleep at night!!

Room Tip: I would suggest you request a top floor room to get less noise

Have stayed here 3 times now and it is as good as ever. We have 3 children and stay there on our visits to Alton Towers. Its only half an hour away from the theme park and am aware there are hotels nearer but we love it there. The Taybarns restaurant attached is fantastic value for money as well as the huge breakfasts you can have that set you for the day for a long day out. Totally recommend to all.

The stay at the Premier Inn was excellent, we had an excellent dinner with plenty of choice for the family and the breakfast was delicous. Alton Towers was half hours traveling time and we arrived in plenty of time for the park to open. I would recommend staying at a Premier Inn which is value for money.
