After a refurbishment, the restaurant appealed to us we actually thought it had new owners, sadly not. The menu is not overly interesting, pasta or pizza, no salads whatsoever except side salad. The Bruschetta was plain with only tomatoes on top, no basil. Focaccia was supposed to be salt and rosemary, it resembled a plain naan bread, and was almost tasteless . The chef does not appear to knowwhat fresh herbs look like-using dried tasteless ones instead. We were one of many complaints this evening, all about the main course pasta. The portions are mean with almost no meat in the dishes. It's a shame, because the restaurant looks attractive and the waitresses work hard;however the food is dull, tasteless, and no better than what you could make at home yourself with a jar of pesto and fresh herbs. Don't expect to receive what is described on the menu.Try Il Porto in brewers quay instead.

This restaurant, previously Rossinis, is now called the Picolla. The food is mainly pizzas and pasta dishes with ice cream sweets, very unlike the previous menu at Rossinis which several years ago was excellent. We had a pizza, lasagna and salad with three glasses of lager. The pizza had hardly any topping and the lasagna very little meat, I couldn't have bought a worse ready meal in a supermarket. We went on a Thursday evening and I couldn't believe how full it got, perhaps there were very few restaurants open that night! We live locally and I will stick to good pub food such as at the Spa on the Dorchester road. The cost of our meal was £30 with instant coffee and one portion of sorbet as a sweet. Wines were at London prices! The staff tried hard but we definitely won't be going there again.

Although I've taken a while to get round to writing this review, our visit last summer sticks in my mind for the wrong reasons. We have visited a lot of restaurants which advertise themselves as Italian or Spanish, or Mediterranean, both chains and individually owned establishments - and unfortunately, this one comes bottom of the fairly lengthy list. The wine we chose (can't remember what it was now but it wasn't the cheapo option) would have been barely acceptable as a £4.99 bottle from a supermarket, the service was adequate at best; but the main - and major - problem was the food. We have rarely been to a restaurant in this category which serves chips. This one does, and they are advertised as twice fried. If that was the case, then I would imagine that the first time was in the nearby chippy. They really did appear to be chips from a chip shop (and cold ones at that). I would not have been at all surprised if the staff had run down the road and bought them. The rest of the meal was edible - that's the best I can say for it. Weymouth restaurants don't seem to have to try too hard, maybe it's because most of their visitors - in the summer at least - are not locals (we are). If you're looking for better quality meals, I would suggest heading to Dorchester.
