Went to Mallams at the weekend, it was somewhere we had heard about over the years but had never got around to going to. It was slightly smaller than I expected but had a lovely intimate atmosphere. The waitresses were friendly and efficient. We both had champagne cocktails on arrival - they were delicious. There was a good selection on the menu - even for a non fish eater like me. My husband really enjoyed both his choices - crab cakes to start and the lobster, scallop and scampi gratin. I had pigeon breast to start and venison for the main course. My only complaint is that I felt that the venison was slightly over-cooked although I still enjoyed it. My best course was dessert - bakewell tart creme brulee with a homemade white chocolate chip cookie - this was the best creme brulee that I have had for a long time. Overall we had a wonderful time - it was quite pricey but worth the money for a special occasion.
