Stayed for 4 days from the 7th September. Quirky well presented cottge . Clean and well decorated. Ideal for couples.close to beach, shops and restaurants. Would recommend it to anyone who wants good accommodation. Definitely come again.
too small for family of 4 ,no view could only see a wall and other peoples rubbish when you looked out front of cottage and a wall out side kitchen door .i would have liked to be able to cook some food but there was not enough room to put any thing let alone cook .if you were a bigger size person or pregnant lady or elderly you would have trouble with the stairs and getting around the cottage
had trouble with parking and getting out and into cottage drive due to road was only big enough for one car very difficult when other cars were parked on road
no wifi .this cottage would be ideal for couples without children or students ,who like going out to eat and like pubs and be a base for their needs
i wish there had been more photos of cottage before i booked as i could only view the lounge, but now suddenly there seem to be more photos of the cottage since my holiday.
we left cottage after a view days due to feeling uncomfortable and weather , this was our main holiday and came home stressed not what we wanted from our holiday.
i have photos but a present can not forward them on to you

I came hear for a long weekend with my fiancée. This cottage is a little gem. I love that the owners have kept the original features yet have managed to keep it modern. It's equipped with everything you could possible need. Only a 5 minute walk to the town/harbour/beach so it makes it super easy to find everything. The cottage was extremely clean, hats of to the cleaner. you can also park your Car on the front drive!! That's a massive bonus. I had such an amazing time I'm going back in October but this time with my friends as the night life is also on point :)
As mentioned within the description the cottage has been renovated to maintain the original features. It really does have lots of character, we loved it!!!
The owner had clearly thought of everything that you would need for your holiday, including a Playstation2 and books for rainy days.
Unlike the previous review we found the cottage to be really clean.
The cottage is small with two steep spiral staircases to each floor, which we expected from the description / photographs.
We would perhaps agree to some extent with the previous comment stating that the cottage is perhaps not in the best location. However, this is the downside to being so close to all of the attactions.
With all holiday accommodation, my view is that the closer you are to all of the attractions then one of the downsides is often the tranquility of where you are located. It's a judgement call as to what you really want.
We only used our car once during the week to go to Paultons Park for the day. It would be possible to get to Weymouth by train and walk to the cottage with your luggage (2 minute walk) and stay in Weymouth all week without a car. There is so much to do.
We liked the idea of being so close to everything. We had no stress of finding a car parking space all week and never paid for parking which was a real bonus.
In all I would definately recommend the cottage, especially if you want to be close to all of the attractions.

Stayed here with my husband and teenage daughter for 1 week. This cottage is very small, with only enough room for 2 people in the kitchen at once, also the stairs are extremely steep! But my main concerns were, the cups being dirty, and the bins weren't emptied. Later when my daughter went to get in bed her sheets were ripped to bits! We contacted the cleaner about this to which she said " sorry about that, there is another sheet in the cupboard! " and to make matters worse, we looked and their wasn't one! The cottage is situated in a bit of a run down area. The first night of us sleeping there my husband was woken in the middle of the night by shouting and fighting right outside the cottage, in the end my husband had to call the police when one of the guys threatened to stab the other guy he was arguing with! Frightening experience and the last thing you need when your on your hols! Luckily the police came quickly and arrested them. I know some of what happened was not under the owners control to be fair, but not a good experience, also no wifi :( but on a positive note it is in a very good location, if you want to be close to the beach/ amenities :)

We went down to Dorset for a wedding which was in Sutton Poyntz and decided to stay more central to everything and Duckling Cottage was the perfect little place to stay. Everything inside was immaculate and clean and had everything you could need and more! Loved the decor and all the little personal touches. Felt like home from home. The owners have put so much thought into what people like and need when they are renting somewhere like this. We ate down at the harbour in The George which was only a 10 min walk away. Really enjoyed out long weekend in this beautiful "little" cottage. The only little problem we had was wifi and reception as the cottage didn't seem to have wifi and our phone network didn't work very good in the cottage itself but fine outside. Would definitely recommend Duckling Cottage if you are having a short break in Weymouth/Dorset.

From start to finish this was a very relaxing and easy short trip. I visited the cottage with my husband and 2 year old son. The cottage had everything we needed and the location was excellent. The harbour was lovely and the beach was stunning. We did a day trip to sea life which seemed bigger than what it was but maybe we just through it quick as we were nearly the only people there! A must is a visit to lulworth cove and durdle door! They are lovely locations we even ventured half way up the cliff. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again (maybe a little closer to season so that more places are open)
The only negative was the top room was freezing. But it didn't spoil our trip! Highly recommend.
