Basic hotel in a very central position.
Clean with adequate rooms for a short stay - all necessary towels, soap etc. provided.
If you overlook the street it sounds as though the French Revolution is taking place outside due to a considerable number of "clubbers" appearing to use it to stagger between bars - not so bad if you keep the windows shut.
Whilst only a two star we have stayed in worse 3 star hotels and did not feel disatisfied.
Very good breakfast served very efficiently - all staff we came into contact with were pleasant and helpful.
Parking can be a problem as everywhere in Weymouth but the hotel provide a parking permit for a refundable deposit of £15.
Would use it again.

Room Tip: Preferably not overlooking Maiden Street

The hotel offers basic accommodation in a great location for the beach, not so great for sleeping due to drunken revellers and delivery vehicles.
The double room I was in had a clean bathroom and decent quality towels. Shockingly there was no shower, just a bath with no shower attachments. A disaster for washing sea hair! The water was very hit and the baths were great. Just not very convenient.
The room itself had a small flat screen TV, tea and coffee and two uncomfortable chairs. Hair dryer was provided.
The carpet was thin, tired, stained and frayed. The mattress was thin and the whole bed/ floors creaked every time I turned over.
The main problems were the thin walls. I could hear my neighbour sniffing. Also drunken yobs shouting in the street outside woke up our party on all three nights we were there. Not a hotel problem but a sad reflection on Weymouth drinking culture.
Once asleep be ready for an early wake up call with delivery vehicle say 5.45am and recycling lorry at 6am.
The food was adequate and well cooked. The staff are great.

I came here as part of a group travelling with work. While the accommodation was functional, i did find the whole experience disappointing. Where to begin? From the moment we arrived, we seemed be be hustled through the Fairhaven Hotel and into the sister hotel, Hotel Central. We arrived at reception via a door adjacent to the bins by the back of the kitchen. Not the most encouraging of entrances. The decor inside was like a museum for the 1960's, which would have been more amusing had it not all appeared so worn and stale. None of this seemed to bode well for the room, the arrival at which bore the most crushing blow; the bathroom. The sink and bath resembled something found in a run-down military barrack house and the shower was a Y-shaped rubber hose connected to the bath taps. I could have possibly forgiven that had the hose had something to hold it to the wall. A clip or something. No. There is a certain indignity in sitting in a clapped out bath trying to have a shower while alternately covering yourself in soap and spraying yourself down with a hose. Yea, that, upon reflection, is really why i'm writing this review.

Other disappointments include,

The bed: the overly soft mattress led to a fairly fitful sleep and the maid's efforts at making the bed seemed somewhat lax.

The menu for dinner (see photo attached). This, coupled with the dining room in general, really added to the "museum for the 1960's" feel to the hotel. Also, whatever you ordered arrived within seconds, heavily implying it had just been sitting, unordered, under a hotplate for an indeterminable period of time.

The bar: Again, resembling a disused army barracks, had stained tables and an unpleasant feel to it.

The waitresses were friendly enough. I kind of got the impression they were putting on a brave face for poor management though.

Perhaps i'm being too harsh. If you want a no frills place to crash in the very centre of Weymouth, don't really intend to wash, don't intend to eat there (or don't mind flaccid food) and don't care about street noise (much drunken shouting), then maybe Hotel Central is what you're looking for. however, if you've got work to do, seriously, go elsewhere.

When you first arrive at the hotel it looks a bit grim we seemed to come in via the back entrance. However the rooms were clean, the water hot, and the staff really friendly. The big bonus was the food which was very good indeed. The only draw back was that we were there at the weekend and about 3 in the morning of the Sunday late night revellers were a bit noisy going home

Room Tip: try not to get the ground floor rooms as they are a bit noisy

we stayed mid wk as part of coach party of about 45 rooms basic food was great breakfast and evening meal as coach party entertainment was put on every evening which was not bad. we found all staff to be very friendly and helpful from the cleaning staff to management. you are in the centre of the night life but as it was a midweek break the noise was not to bad but on a weekend can imagine it to be quite noisey. would stay again location great.

Room Tip: where the hotel is situated there are no sea views as it is just off the front in between shops
