Recently stayed here with my husband and two older kids (20 and 16). We had a lovely room at the top of the building, with views over the harbour. The kids shared a twin room with what has got to be one of the best views in Weymouth!! Blane and Jackie were very welcoming and more than happy to do a vegetarian option for breakfast for our daughter.Rooms were spotless and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Parking permit was a real bonus too.

Room Tip: Room 2 is the twin with a view to die for

We visited the Sandcombe B&B only because of the excellent reviews on TA. I have to say that we were disappointed with the room we had (room 2) having anticipated it to be nothing short of wonderful from the reviews.

The decor left a lot to be desired and looks tired and jaded. This was reflected in the other rooms we saw, namely the dining room and hallway. A wee bit old fashioned but some people like that.

When we arrived at 12 (as indicated on the booking) , the room wasn't quite ready but that wasn't a problem. Blane allowed us to leave our bags in the B&B and helpfully took them up for us whilst we went for a lovely but brisk walk on the beach.

When we received the keys to the room we found that it was freezing cold because the window was open (presumably to 'air' from the previous occupants) but it was a very cold day. Now this is not a problem where there is another source of heat...but there wasn't as the radiators are on a timer and didn't come on til 7 that night. As we had been out we were freezing cold and I resorted to warming up the room with my hair dryer! I dislike being cold and this was quite a nuisance to me.

The views from room 2 however, are stunning. A wonderful view overlooking the beach and its bustling life. A definite treat and just fabulous to wake up to.

The cleanliness of the shower area wasn't of the highest standard I had seen either and I had to clean the shower head myself as it had black mould over it as it hadn't been attended to for some time by the look of it. This was quite shocking. The toilet also had a problem with the flush before giving up altogether on the second day which led to having to fill up the waste bin with water to flush the contents of the loo to save embarrassment. We also had a problem with the shower thermostat which kept running hot and cold at random!

We found that there wasn't enough room to put our 'things' on and the room could benefit from putting the kettle (hard to fill from the tap) on the wee table and all the teas/coffees too, so that there was more space for the customer to use, and the TV on the wall would also help facilitate this.

The picture was also placed really low for some strange reason and the whole room would benefit from a few more homely touches.

The beds themselves were very comfortable and there were fleece blankets in the wardrobe which we definitely made use of! We stayed on a Sat/Sun but early on Sunday morning I woke up early as I thought it was morning due to the flood of light coming in from the street and fairground. Black out curtains would certainly be useful in this room. I could hear the bass music from a club somewhere nearby, in my confused sleepy state I thought it was the fairground opened early!. It stopped about 6am. Whilst it did not wake me up, it was annoying when I was awake. OK there is nothing that the B&B can do about it, but you ought to know that it does happen when the clubs are open for business.

The breakfast was lovely, not so much food you feel overfull at the end and also served on hot plates which so many get wrong. I thought it was well cooked and not greasy. One of the better breakfasts I have had.

The parking permit was very helpful but a word of caution for future tourists. Read the street signs carefully as some areas accept the permit but only between certain times so don't get caught out.We nearly did as we couldn't find a space next to or near the B&B so we opted to find a space along the nearby beach front where there appeared to be plenty but on reading the notice (which appears to be the same as the others) there was a time limit and hours of parking limit too. So beware.

It was our wedding anniversary and there was a lovely and unexpected touch of chocolates and a card from Blane and Jackie which was much appreciated and this reflects the friendliness and thoughtfulness of the hosts especially Blane who we saw the most of.

The B&B could do with updating, that is true from our observations. Blane and Jackie have had the B&B for 18 months and have inherited a lot of problems from the previous owner but with a bit of paint and a makeover and more importantly-better attention to detail this could be a wonderful B&B.

I wish Blane and Jackie all the best as they deserve success.

Room Tip: the rooms at the back are quieter...you wouldn't get the noise from the fairground.

Great value for money. We had a twin ensuite room at the front looking straight down the beach. Beds v comfortable. Were able to have exactly what we wanted for breakfast, accompanied by lots of fresh fruit. Really good B&B.

Room Tip: Decide whether you want harbour view or beach view - B&B has both.

Had a weekend in weymouth 5th & 6th October. We stayed at Sandcombe Hotel, because of the reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. We had a double en-suite room, over looking the harbour, room 7, which was very peaceful. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very nicely cooked.
Blane was very helpful and friendly. Parking permit was a bonus.
Only downside, we wish we had booked for a longer stay.We will be back to recharge our batteries again.
